Hurting feet
 

Hi my name is Bob and I live in Connecticut. I have painful feet. It started back in 2003 or 4. But it didnt last long. I had bought a new pair of work shoes, wore them for one day and experienced the pain. So the next day I put my old work shoes on and the pain went away. Recently in 2005 the situation occurred. I bought some steel-toe shoes wore them one or two days, pain came back. Went back to my old shoes and the pain never went away. I had to quit that job because I could not walk without pain. Luckily I found a desk job. I've spent the past twenty years walking on hangar floors. I am an aircraft mechanic. I have also spent many hours on a tread mill for exercise. I have never really paid attention to what kind of shoes I bought, just the cheapest. My first podiatrist was tossing around tarsall tunnel (TT), plantar fascitis (PF) and NP. I had a electrical test for the NP and that came inconclusive. My chiropractic worked on my feet and said they were load wit scar tissue. When I tap on my inner ankle just below the big bone I get a tremendous electrical shock in my toes. I am border line diabetic which I control with food. Medicines took my sugar too low and I got dizzy as hell. My new podiatrist is again looking at PF and TT but again with the NP. The local Diabetic center said with my sugar numbers no way to NP. They said NP shows up only with people in the 300-400 for years. Xanax seems to help with Tylanol. He wants me try Lyrica. I think he is heading the wrong way again. I am trying shoe inserts. I think that over the years my feet have "collapsed" bringing around the pain. I think I need to strenghten the foot and bring the structure back to my feet. My feet bother me a little at night and I sometimes have a hard time keeping my whole feet warm. When I stretch my legs and feet they warm up. I could go on but what are your thoughts. Thanks ,Bob

I'm glad to see you've gotten directions over to the other forums, where you can find more specialized information.

One thing I will say--if the diabetes center tells you it takes years of out-of-control diabetes to experience neuropathy, especially the small-fiber varieties, they're rather out of date. There's increasing evidence that impaired glucose tolerance at a pre-diabetic level can result in neuropathy symptoms.

I started dealing with burning feet last year. I was diagnosed with the PF.

I bought some shoes called New Balance and then I also put some arch supports in them. Now I am having no pain but summer is coming on and with walking more I am hoping I don't end up the same way again.

You might look up New Balance Shoes on the internet and see if you find some of them you might like to try. I am sure getting the use out of mine. Mine are white and blue tennis shoes. They make a lot of different kinds.

As a matter of fact, JC Penny carries them and you can get them cheaper then the internet price.
