Anemic

I've been really weak lately but was waiting to see the doctor b/c I don't want to go to the doctor's office, if I really don't need to, during flu season.

I called last week to make an appt and when I told the lady my symptoms she said I should come on in, so I did. They took me right back. They did blood work but I haven't gotten the results yet.

The doctor thinks I'm anemic.

I had my colon removed last Oct but I have all my small intestines so don't understand why I would become anemic now.

Anyway, I got up to go to the bathroom very early this morning and passed out. I don't think I was out but maybe less than a minute. DH was asleep of course.

If they don't call me tomorrow morning w/ my results I'm going to call tomorrow afternoon and demand to speak w/ someone.

This really sucks. I want my health back

Oh, Bunny, that doesn't sound like any fun at all!

I'm with GJ, tell your doc ASAP! Be well, friend.

Hi BTB,

I too have had an anaemic diagnosis from my GP.

Maybe there's something in the missing bits they take out....I don't know.

I do know that I feel a whole lot better recently, and much less tired since I started taking Iron supplements.

I daresay you're having the same sort of checks that I am, and you've been through so much more.

Major hugs heading your way BTB. Feel well soon!

:hug: That must have been scary. I'm so sorry to hear that happened. I agree. Tell the doc about what happened.

Hope you feel better soon.

Well the good news is that there is a fairly easy fix for that, if that is the problem. :)

Did they check your blood pressure (although mine usually looks reasonable when I attend the doctor, even though it is TOO low at home)? If I am quite low, this will causes me to feel weak and sickly. Same with sugar levels.

Good luck!

Cherie

Thanks for all your responses :)

The doctor's office called. Said I'm severley anemic and wants to admit me to the hospital for a blood transfusion.

I'm on my way to his office now to try and talk him out of the blood transfusion and to see if there is any other way to handle this, like doing an iron IV and B12 shot.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. I'll keep you posted :grouphug:

Thanks everyone :D

I'm home from the hospital. Got 3 units of blood and a B12 shot. Feeling much better.

My blood count was around 6 and 20. Should be between 12-15 and 36-40.

I'm at 10 and 30 now.

Doctor told me to eat red meat once a day and liver couple times a month. I don't eat that much meat so I'm going to have to work at it. I like liver so that's not an issue for me.

Thanks again for all your good wishes :grouphug:

Kim
