Springtime in Vermont
...will be here in, oh, six weeks or so. Maybe.
Anybody that thinks March is a spring month in Vermont has never lived here. This is our National Weather Service forecast for tonight and tomorrow: THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS FOR THE NORTHEAST KINGDOM OF VERMONT. SNOW WILL DEVELOP AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT...AND THEN CHANGE TO A MIX OF SLEET AND POSSIBLY FREEZING RAIN DURING THE DAYLIGHT HOURS WEDNESDAY MORNING. LATE WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...WARMER AIR WILL SPREAD INTO THE REGION AND CHANGE PRECIPITATION OVER TO RAIN. A LIGHT ICE ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED...ALONG WITH 2 TO 4 INCHES OF SNOW AND SLEET. |
Geee...it sounds just like our forecast!!:p
The only difference is the timeline...a few hours later and the snow is gonna stick in the mountains and the County...glad I am near the coast! I drove the Mighty American Steel Lincoln (with the snow tires all around) to work tonight just in case it decides to move a lil faster...I had my mouse car the other night and we got an ice/snow mix that froze to the roads immediately. I caught a whole line of 18 wheelers stuck on a hill waiting for the sand/salt truck...We are running out of both so they are being very careful as to when and how much goes on the roads now...sigh. I barely made it home!! It was like driving a roller skate with MS!!! (me and my Aveo Hatchback with the summer tires on it!) |
You drive an Aveo with summer tires? In MAINE? I'll bet you bungee jump, too. :D
My Subaru has studded tires, but I still stay home when it's nasty. AWD won't keep somebody from crashing into me. |
It is springtime in North Carolina, but darn if the forecast is for snow on Monday! I'm talking in the southern portion of the state! This must be because we planted lots of new bushes and plants. Planting here is in the spring and fall for the most part. Summer is too hot and winter is too cold.
In the last three years we've waited for the last frost and then planted, only to be hit by out of season weather followed by more drought. Well, this time we at least found a nursery that sells basic stuff and very cheap. I'd rather lose a cheap azalea than an expensive one!!! We also have pretty much decided we will only plant (for the most part) native, hardy bushes and plants. I don't have the desire nor the ability to go out and cover everything (we have more than an acre). I'm afraid it's survival of the fittest here:D Tootsie |

I am no fool! I have an 89 Lincoln Towncar with studs all around for the bad days when the derned fools are on the road with me! I've had a small car bounce off of more than one of my Lincolns. I'll get a scratch and they are totaled! Towncars run forever too! As far as bungee jumping? Not yet! I still have time for that one! I'll jump off the New River Gorge Bridge and land in a raft and do the river! ( I have a plan too!) Quote:
One of these days I am going to get a pic of me and the old man standing in front of that car...you can't see it! I could put it in the trunk of the Lincoln! :p |
