Do You Like Butterflies?

Have I got the trip for you!!

We were just watching something on PBS about the Montreal Botanical Garden. They have a special event in the insectarium "Butterflies Go Free", open now through April 27. Thousands and thousands of exotic butterflies from all over the world, floating all around, landing on your hair. Wowee.

Bob and I sat here going "Look at that! Look at that one!" like bug-eyed little kids.

If you live anywhere near Montreal, you should do this!! Check out the website, and you will want to go!!!

That is so cool, B2. You can really learn a lot about them in a very short period of time! Cool pictures! Thanks!!!

I have been to the one in Victoria, BC. Our Horticulture Class went there on our class trip to see Butchart Gardens. This place was fantastic.

Here's the link...turn on your sound! We spent about 5 hours there listening to the curators tell us all about butterflies and their life cycle. We got some great photos.

They are a fascinating species!

They're so cool, aren't they? We have one here in town and I've also been to the one in Branson, MO. They even sell little butterfly garden kits now, my niece (6) got one from her grandpa (via me) for Christmas. She lives in FL and is having a ball with it.

Oh I wish I lived close by. I would love to go to that. How beautiful it would be to see all the different colors and designs floating around! I've been several times to the butterfly center here in Houston and love it, except it's in a rainforest setting and it gets so hot I have to leave for a little while then go back in. Here's a link to it... http://www.hmns.org/see_do/butterfly_center.asp

There's a small butterfly garden in Waterville OH I went to - not as extensive as either of those - but still, really cool.

I learned a lot about gardening to attract butterflies from my visit and try to add more plants for them every year.

I get tons of Monarchs of course, and lots of Buckeyes, but I grab the camera when I see the tiger swallowtails. I just love those.

:D

I went into a Butterfly house here in Aussie land a while back, and they flew around me and landed on my hands and head. They are so-o-o-o beautiful!

Thanks for that B2U.

HAPPY EASTER.

one of the many reasons I moved to Belize is that it made me feel the wonder of a child.

Blue Morpho Butterfly - Belize

butterflies are often hatching here in my yard, and I get to see them fluttering in little clusters, it's just magical.

and there are seeral butterfly farms nearby:
