resources for you...
ok. life has been interesting and has given me quite an eye-opener in the last couple months. lets just say i have been HAVING to find resources available to cope with this blasted disease and wow!! there are quite a few that i didnt know about! dshs.. many many many.. they have supplied me with the life monitor. you know that "help, ive fallen and cant get up" thingy. and, it is a good sense of security to have. AND>>> they have also supplied pill containers, med alert bracelet, bars for the bathtub, hand held pulsating shower head, and even have ordered a portable wheelchair ramp! good place to check out. they also have set up a caregiving service and i now have someone coming out to my home 5 days a week to help. this has been by far the most helpful.
HUD has many housing opportunities. including something called a 1040 housing exchange where you can swap a home you have (with enough equity of course) for them building one equipped with the amendities you need. i gotta reserch this one more. they also have alotted grants to many apartment complexes for independent living. there are other options that you should definately check out too. there is respite care available. i am now checking into it. try calling 211. this is a new phoneline that provides information about all of the non profit organizations in your area. you tell the operator your needs, and they search their data base for info and give you the contacts that pop up. an excellent resource. go into google or dogpile, or whatever search engine you use.. type in things that you can think of that you need. or words such as whatever state you live in, disabled or handicapped. watch what pops up. there are resources out there. you just have to find them. then... share this info. mucho important. here are some of the links i found... http://www.makoa.org/legal.htm http://www.hud.gov/offices/hsg/sfh/h...searchstate=WA http://www.hud.gov/groups/disabilities.cfm http://aptfinder.org/listingssenior.html http://www.arcofkingcounty.org/respite/state.html http://www.disabilityresources.org/WASHINGTON.html http://www.archrespite.org/JointEndorsingList.pdf http://www.nasua.org/informationandr...20McDonald.ppt http://www.dshs.wa.gov/basicneeds/ |

glad you are still kicking
I was afraid you had been "disappeared" by the system. Welcome back! And you even brought gifts! :)
