Provigil results please

My Dr wrote a scrip for 200 mg of Provigil for fatigue today. This is not a cheep drug nor one with a cheep copay so I just wanted to ask if it has helped any of you, before I fill it. I know I'm cheep, but I'm also getting real broke - real fast. Thanks Sheena:hug:

Love it! I use it sparingly, usually when I have a full day where I want to last as long as possible.

Rumor has it, if you take it every day for any length of time, it loses its punch. I haven't used it for more than few days in a row at any time.

There is finally a generic out there now, it may be an option to look for with your pharmacy.

I take it almost every day, between 200-400mg depending on how long my day is going to be.

I agree with Cindy, after a while it loses its punch with some people. It does still work for me and I have been on it for about 4 years. About the only time I don't take it is on weekends...or if I don't have any clients or work scheduled for the day.

I use it very sparingly - started out with 100 mg - it does give you a little extra - but more then 50 - at the most 100 mg - and my legs can't keep up with the rest of me - so I suppose it comes down to how much fatigue you have with MS and what your individual day consists of - if I was working I'd take it - I'm retired - I don't need to keep going all day - I can take a nap or sit if I'm tired and it is very expensive !! Had an rx filled in November and still have quite a bit left -

Provigil is the only reason I'm still able to work full time. I have 100 mg tabs which I cut in half. I take 50 mg at lunch and if I'm still dragging, I take the other half.

For me it will lose its effectiveness if I'm having a bad time with fatigue and take it on a regular basis. I always skip weekends to give my body a break.

You might ask your doc if he has any samples you could try. It's expensive - $50 co-pay with my insurance - but oh so worth it. :D

Thank you soooooooooooooooooo much. You 4 may have just given me the right to keep my child. My co pay is 50.00 too but that is nothing if I can take her to the park, to the zoo, play with here, do all the fun kid stuff... You just don't know what the last 10 yrs has been like, Forget me, think of Emily my 6 yr old. They said today I had MS approx - a guess - for over 10 years with no DX. I guess I had it when she was born - no one will ever know. Maybe now I can make some of dreams of hers come true.
cherokee- If u don't mind, I'm going start out like you and following your dose. If this saves My Emily - then the MS fight will be worth it. Thank you again so very much - I'll update

Free samples from Doc...and free week from med co.

Sheena -

I tried provigil - doesn't really work for me, however - it was an expensive copay!

First - your neuro should have samples of it to give you to try - but also - if you go to provigil's website (just add .com to the name) - you can get a coupon for a free seven day trial!! your doc would need to write your prescription for a 7 day supply and you will get it for free. it's a good deal - bc then you can know if it works for you...plus, there are other assistance programs to assist with the copay you may qualify for. but I'd say to call doc and ask if he can give you some samples - mine did. i didnt know about the 7day coupon from provigil - but if i did - i would have used it!!

I've posted about my fatigue issues - and how I found a new addition to the arsenal - it is called DAYTRANA - and it is a small patch you wear on your thigh for 9hrs a day, then you remove it. It works much better for me than the provigil did. Find my thread - think it's called new fatigue med...written this week. also, as i mentioned with this new drug - i paid NOTHING for a full 30 day prescription. Doc wrote out rx and then I printed the coupon online and brought to pharmacy and i got my meds! I am now on my second box. cost me $45 for this month. Not bad tho as it is working for me.

But seriously - try to get the free samples if you can first! my neuro gave me samples of many drugs he wanted me to try - definitely better than shelling out $45 for each new thing to try not knowing if they would work!!

Good luck... (Im gonna send you a PM now...)

I did not really notice a big difference, except it makes me more talkative. My body would get tired but my mind would not shut off to allow me to rest when I wanted to rest.
But you can get online and print a 7day coupon and then have the dr write a 7 day px.
