So..Who's gotten the Flu so far?

I came down with it on Monday..Hit really fast! I went to work at 6am, by 10:30, my temp was up, I was achy, my hands were almost completely numb (and yet they hurt..how does that work?), and I started coughing. I went home, figuring I'd feel better after getting some rest. Next day, even worse. My 87 yr old Mom, who doesn't drive much at all anymore (thankfully), talked me into going to the clinic. Fortunately, it's not far from here, LOL..By this time I could barely walk, I couldn't focus my eyes at all, or keep them open for that matter. I fell on the floor when I tried to get my shoes on so figured it would be easier just to stay there and put 'em on..Turns out my temp was 103.8. Yep, I had the flu. Can't get flu shots because I'm allergic to eggs, so the doctor (bless her forever) gave me a handfull of samples of Tamiflu. I kept taking Tylenol & started the Tamiflu & started feeling better within hours. Still totally worthless. I guess this flu keeps you weak and poopy feeling for five to six days. Yuck. Between my daughter's tonsilectomy and now the flu (which of course, EVERYONE in the house has, even those who had the flu shot), I've burned through all my sick time and one of my three weeks vacation..It's not even April yet..So far 2008 is not my favorite year. On the bright side, I haven't had an appetite for 4 days, so maybe I'll lose the weight I gained over this past winter..Pleeze??? :o

I'm so sorry to hear you've been taken down by the flu. I've heard it's been wicked this year, and the flu shot isn't very effective. I got my flu shot and knock wood (knock knock) I'm doing fine.

I'm glad the Tamiflu is helping. Drink plenty of liquids and sleep yourself silly. I'm hoping you are feeling better very soon.

I do I do!! I've got the daggone bug!! Three days I've been in bed! I'm not even sure if I'm actually typing right now or if I'm hallucinating everything. :)

I've had the flu 4 times this year... 4th time being now...had temp of 104.4 yesterday...today 101.2.

I can't take flu shot and tamiflu doesn't agree with me in other ways..

I just have to be careful and ride out the flu the best I can....

Yikes! That's a bad flu!

I got my doctor to score me some Tamiflu about a month ago because everyone at my dad's work (a hospital) was coming down with the flu and I was scared he was going to bring it home (he's in more danger than I am if he gets the flu, he's got cardiomyopathy and asthma)

I told my dad that whoever got the flu first gets the Tamiflu, the other person has to call their doctor and get a Rx to give to the other person.

So far we havent had to use the Tamiflu. I guess the flu shots that my aunt gave us must have worked so far. (she bought my parents and I flu shots as a gift from the flu shots that she gives everyone at her work)

I'm still expecting to get the flu eventually this spring. I just hope the shots we got keep it from being too nasty.

I don't have the "flu". Only ever had that once in my life, and once stricken ...never forgotten.

What I do have however are BUGS!! Nasty germy bugs.

My head aches, my sinuses ache, my nose runs and I have the sneezes. My throat's been sore for a couple of days and I have laryngitis.

Yesterday I couldn't talk at all....lucky DH :D....today I can talk with a soft squeaky voice.

How come we all our withstand our chronic illnesses like MS, but as soon as we get hit by a virus, we fold? Maybe it's because the chronic illnesses we have exaggerate our symptoms. Possible I guess, and it's just a suggestion.

I just got a gunky cold this year....Hope you feel better soon!

Jess I'm really sorry you're dealing with this, too..I don't think I started hallucinating, but probably burned out a few of the last good brain cells remaining..I've had really weird dreams this entire week, though..
Abbie, for heaven's sake, 4 times??!!?? Please take care of yourself and be sure to see a doctor if you're not starting to feel better soon. I worry when I hear stuff like that because I've had one childhood friend die of the flu and one from chronic pneumonia.
Maybe we should fast forward to 2009, since it's been one step forward, two back so far this year...:Bang-Head:
M'kay..I'm done whining (for now :p)..

Just had one more thought (I know, gotta stop that)..If my immune system is so uber powerfull it kills off stuff my body's supposed to have, why can't it kill off a little flu bug? Is it possible my immune system is as blond as I am?
