Right lateral abdominal pain
 

At age 18 she developed severe right abdominal pain. The doc called it Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and later Crohns Disease. The pain worsened. And both IBS and Crohns were ruled out. The pain worsened more. On the pain scale she called it an 8-9. Every imaginable gastro-ent and OBGYN exam and test were negative. Exploratory surgery revealed nothing. Now at age 20 she was admitted to respectable hospital where some genius doc figured she was simply a drug seeker. He plan of action was mainly to wean her off drugs (pain meds). After a few days in the hospital she attempted suicide. The pain is/was too much to bear. And todate no one has any idea as to the source of the pain.

The hospital released her because they can't do any more for her. And she now awaits admission into a psychiatric hospital with an excellent reputation for pain management. Perhaps some answers await.

In the meantime does anyone have any thoughts or ideas. PM me if you'd like.

I sure wish I could help, SW. I have been practically living that same experience for the last four & a half years, except I'm a guy, and for me the pain is in the lower left quadrant. Had all the tests and procedures. Done the surgery. I have some sense of what she's going through.

I haven't been diagnosed yet, either, but I'm still trying. I've learned an awful lot about abdominal pain, and pain in general. If you want to provide more details...well, I don't know if I can, but I'd be perfectly willing to try to help.

I sure hope she starts getting better. I sure hope you find out what's wrong.

That is such a gruesome story!!! It could only be true!!! Although my pains have nothing to do with lower organs, there is presently no cure, and it continually increases. Is that what I have to look forward to??? God, help this person!!!

It isn't any wonder that the world is FULL of unexplained pain. Chemicals are sprayed on potatoes so that the eyes will not be so quick to bud. More are sprayed on bananas to make them yellow....and longer. Hormones are injected into every living domesticated animal for consumption, or breeding purposes. The things that I love to eat are killing me!!! The government is killing us by their laws to keep us healthy. How and when is it going to stop? Who can afford organic gardening, etc.?

About 8 years ago I had that same kind of pain. Every test under the sun was done. Nothing showed up. Lucky for me, it went away on it's own after several weeks. Then about 3 years ago I had a repeat.....same thing......nothing was found. Again, it went away after several weeks.

My spine is really messed up and I have always wondered if that pain could have been coming from spinal issues. Has she ever been checked for spinal problems? It's certainly worth looking into as I'm positive mine, at least, was NOT in my head.

I hope you find something to fix. I can relate to that kind of pain and the total frustration of not finding anything. I was lucky because it went away, twice. There is no way for me to know if it will pop it's ugly head up again.

If spinal issues have not been looked at........I would look into having tests done to see if that could be the culprit.

Hi, Abdominal Pain can come from Myofascial Trigger Points (Knots in the muscle) in the associated muscles. Take a look at under Abdominal Pain this site for referred pain to the abdomin at.

These muscles can be treated with direct finger pressure to the trigger points by a Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist or skilled body worker. Some PT's are also trained but mostly after graduation through seminars.
