Im taking nexium and......

I was wondering if I'll still be able to supplement with magnesium citrate. im thinking that i cant, unless maybe i get injected with magnesium chloride. any other supplements get affected by this nexium?? like maybe vitamin b12 or vitamin D. any thoughts or ideas on this would be good. I have to take it becuz i take a neuroleptic and lexapro at low doses, but together they kinda trigger heartburn pretty much.

sorry for double post i need to delete the other one but i dont know how

I too take Nexium and as I take Magnesium when necessary for cramps, I was interested to know the answer to this myself.

I went into the drug site that I find to be the most comprehensive to suit my own needs, as well as several others I found in my search engine, and I even went to the leaflet in the Nexium box, but no-where could I find any mention of an interaction between nexium and Magnesium.

Here's the link I mostly use to check on drugs, but there are many more available on the Net.

When you say you take Magnesium Citrate, is this for cramps? I was just wondering because I take Magnesium Aspartate, not a citrate or a chloride.

yah, well i take it for headaches, neurological issues etc. but the kind i take is ionic fizz magnesium, which is basically magnesium citrate. you must of missed the grand-daddy of all posts about magnesium citrate.

I used to take Nexium. But I can't address magnesium since I don't take it other than what is in the Citracal. But I was checked recently for any malabsorption issues and I don't have any deficiencies. But, the problem with me is...Nexium didn't or doesn't last through the night. So, I was switched to Zegerid which I LOVE! And I know someone will come along and say it is just Prilosec or Nexium with sodium bicarbonate added. But I don't care...it works wonderfully! The only thing I have read is that if you are on a low salt diet you have to be careful. But so far so good! I now wake up WITHOUT nausea or any heartburn even after taking my meds of an evening. You might consider asking your Gastro doc about it since you have ongoing hearburn. I had the same thing happening basically and I can't sleep with my head elevated due to my spinal fusions. It is expensive. I picked up my first script yesterday but since my insurance is good it was only $28.00.

I don't understand this post. Why do you think you need to INJECT magnesium chloride?

I am unaware of any interaction of Nexium with magnesium.

Over time long term use of acid blocking drugs impairs absorption of things dependent on acid in the stomach.
Folic acid, B12, calcium, zinc, and iron can be affected.
You should not supplement iron without blood testing first.

I meant I was thinking that acid blocking drugs would affect the way I absorb magnesium. Which there isn't, as you said, so it's ok. but if there was I was just joking about-injecting magnesium like say you inject vitamin b12. So like you said you're injecting But it might affect b12 and folic acid so I'll hafta watch out with that. I'm taking a low dose of nexium.
