Hi my name is Lou and my back aches

I ama 80 yo male who is in reasonable good health except for lower back and frontal thigh pain. i have been suffering for about 8-10 years. I have been controling the pain with epadurals but it has gotten worse. My Nurosurgeon wants to fuse L3-L4-L5. I am concerned about the recovery time and living alone also the fact that the vertibre above and below become weakend. I have contacted "Microspine" and submitted my latest MRI report and they claim I am a candidate for their procedure.

I would like comments about Microspine and my condition.

Lou

Hi,

I don't know anything about the place you want to know about but I wanted to say hi to you and welcome you to the group.

80 years old, how amazing. I am 56 and hoping I won't make it to that age. I am glad to see people that do and can keep going though.

As far as back pain, I have back problems also but I have never considered the surgery. I will say though, I had a friend that had back surgery at the age of 64 and she was heavy set but did great from it.

I hope you find the answers you need. I am glad you found us and hope you hang around.

Ada

Hi Lou! Welcome to NeuroTalk! There are lots of really caring and knowledgeable folks who hang out here, so I imagine you will get some good responses to your post/thread.

My Dad will turn 95 in a couple of months. He is very self-sufficient and doing good. But, he walks with his torso tipped forward at about a 40 degree angle. He never complains that his back hurts, though, so I'm very happy about that.

Could you please explain more about microspine, or post a link? Thanks and good luck to you!
