Are shunt blockages gradual?
 

It might have been "nothing", but last night, I was pushing away my hair and I thought I felt something on the tube running down my neck and into my abdomen? It mat have been nothing. I'm not worried. I am only asking if the blockages could ever be felt?

I kind of remember the known blockage I had in my littler tube and if this winds up as on. It doesn't feel ANYTHING like the last time. I don't know if little pieces of debriis just start to fall with time and I just happen to have felt it.

With a blockage, you shouldn't feel anything physical on the shunt tract. The blockage would be inside or at the end of the catheter. Any lumps or bumps along the shunt are invariably internal scar tissue and are rarely anything to worry about.

The only indication of a possible shunt blockage, would be one or more of the usual symptoms: head pain, nausea, vomiting, double vision, ataxia, dizziness etc.

If you are symptom free I wouldn't worry.

Thank you Mark! :) I wasn't really making a big deal out of it (at home) because I remembered one fact. I THINK I do have a scar on my neck somewhere allong my neck/tube area but I couldn't find it. It used to be quite noticable, but I don't really notice it anymore.

I tried to find it by looking in a mirror, but I couldn't. (I'll have to dig out the hand held mirror and look into a mirror.)

I was just suprised that it was so obvious. (Like it swelled or something.)

I can't really tell, but I THINK I found the scar I was talking about. It's very faint, but I think the area I was talking about is just a very faint scar.
