Hospital and medication...a returnto the subject.

Yesterday my husband went to the hospital for his pre operation assessment. He is going to have a double hernia repair.Obviously, the campaign run by The Parkinsons Society here in the U.K has been effective. The person in charge of admissions said that they liked Parkinson patients to self medicate if possible. She then asked my husband what time he usually took his medication saying that she would arrange his operation on the list in order to enable him to take his medication before the operation to keep the dosing as near to normal as possible. Now, we Brits are always moaning about our National Health system which is free at the point of contact but it does seem that at least in this area they are getting something right.

Good luck with husband's surgery and I hope your medical community spreads the word about what it has learned!

Thanks Parkinson's Society .U.K

Further foillow up.My husband was allowed to self medicate although I had to wake him as he was, of course ,sleepy after operation. He did have operation to fit in with drug timing. He was a bit late with the one after op as op took longer than expected. Patches would be so much better All well
