prayers for my grandson
I need your prayers.
My grandson James (1) was rushed to the hospital last night by ambulance. Mark (my oldest son) was caring for him while is wife was at work. He called me and told me James felt warm and wanted to know if it was alright to give him Motrin. I told Mark to check his temp give him some motrin and put him in a tepid bath. (My kids always cooled down with a luke warm bath) A little while later Mark called in hysterics. James had a seizure and stopped breathing. Mark kept trying cpr but James wasn't recovering. By the time medics got there Mark was able to revive the baby and he was rushed to childrens hospital. They ran tons of tests and believed it was from the fever. This morning James is acting normal but wants to be in his Daddy's arms. Tests showed a slight ear infection but otherwise healthy. They are keeping him for a little while to make sure his fever doesn't spike or he has another seizure. I have never been so frightened in my life. Being an hour away from my son and him screaming on the phone that he couldn't get James to breathe. I've never felt so helpless in my life. All the memories of losing my granddaughter Lilianne came rushing back. Please if you could, say a prayer that James continues to get better. Thank you for listening. It's been a pretty rough night. |

Oh my... how scary.
I'm sending up prayers!! I remember from my paramedic days... that seizures can happen with fever in children. I've seen it happen in children who had low grade fevers and higher fevers... I think it's all in how their little bodies can't handle the fever. I found this: http://www.emedicinehealth.com/seizures_and_fever/article_em.htm I am praying that this was a one time occurrence and that the little man has a speedy recovery. May GOD bless and watch over all of you!! Abbie |
Your Grandson, Son, his wife and you are all in my thoughts and prayers

OMG, your story brought me back 18 years ago when my son had a febrile seizure and stopped breathing. I called 911 and pronounced my son dead on the phone! He stopped breathing while I was giving them information. I was hysterical even though I worked in a hospital. Everything out the window when it's a loved one you know? Nik was dx'd with pneumonia and hospitalized. It was so weird, he only had a slight cold. It turned out that he didn't have a threshold for fevers. Normally we all stop at a certain temp, but Nik could jump from 100-108 in seconds. It was a scary two years after that. He had his last seizure on Mother's day at the age of four and is now seizure free.
:hug: I pray your grandson heals and continues to have no problems. Please let us know how he is when you can. BIG HUGE GRANDMA HUGS Beth!:hug: |
