Off topic, a question for women
It is getting hot here and i have to wear skirts and shorts because it is difficult to stand the touch of pants on my legs. That means i have to have my hair removed.
Could i ask you, Do you think an electric epilator is a good option?? I saw one that supossedly has a sonic massage system and some ice system. DO you think that is safe?? Last time i had my legs waxed, i suffered incredibly. What do you think i should do?? |
I wouldn't know about
the depilitator... I do use an electric shaver tho...Seems to get the worst of it. With my hands and lack of feeling I'd never consider using a real blade shaver! Probably cut myself and then not be able to get the band-aids on riight!
Keep in mind tho, that the shavers seem cheap? The replacement blades/heads cost almost as much as the machine itself. They get you whenever they can. Hugs - j |
I still shave...
I guess I am lucky I still have sensitivity to gauge the blade. I had my legs waxed last year and I thought I was going to go thru the roof! Never again. Waxing never bothered me before I had PN.
I don't personally know anything about an epilator, but I hear they are painful. Ann |
If you are referring to a product made by Emjoi, believe me it rips your skin.
I read all the reviews because I thought I might buy one. After i read what they said, I said to myself "use Nair, or a regular depiliatory product. They have the ones that you just apply the lotion, wait a few minutes and rinse off in the shower. So no blade, no wax. sounds good, right?? |

They're probably safe enough, but I tried one once. I started on one leg below the knee, and believe me I never did finish, and the other leg never did get done! I just couldn't stand the pain. Waxing pain has nothing on these things, let me tell you! |
Another female here....
All I can say - is when those epilators first came out - a bunch of us got them - they looked so easy - I dont know one person that got thru even one leg - the pain was incredible! Waxing was less painful then that! We all went back either waxing or regular blades - (electric razors dont work worth anything on legs for me anyway) - I have no feeling on skin on legs but am just super careful with blade - and works fine - I do much more damage to myself just doing routine stuff around the house!
So heres a vote for total waste of money and lots of pain!:( |
those
mechanical depilitators can cause ingrown hairs and infections. I think they are brutal and not medically safe, esp now with the mrsa risks growing every year.
I use a triple blade lady's manual razor, and I get no nicks. They have been improved considerably, IMO. |
My husband was told to buy a cheap razor and just always wipe the blade dry.....he has thick whiskers so believe me, he knows about the difficulties of shaving...It works. Keeping the blade dry. That keeps it sharp.
So, we buy inexpensive razors, and dry off the blades, and no problems....of course, I lost a lot of my leg hairs, so, I get the benefits without all the fuss....now just so nothing grows on MY CHIN, I will be happy.:D |
Hi. Sorry I have been away for a while. Thank you all, i guess i'll just stick to the regular razor blade then.
I won't be the cause of any single litttle pain. Thank you all. |
