MS hug?

Is there any other reason some one could have this MS hug sensation if they don't have MS?

I have that same feeling in my chest I had Dec. 28th when I went to the ER. And I did wake up to this feeling on other time in Jan.

I don't know if it is the same feeling or not but some of the members with thoracic outlet syndrome {TOS} have had muscle spasms and it can involve or irritate the nerve that runs around the chest.
Many have gone to ER to be checked for heart attack because of the sx.
But it always turns up to be spasms and the nerve and not the heart.
sx are racing heartbeat feelings, rapid & shallow breathing, coughing, heart beat is very noticeable to the person affected.

I haven't read up on the MS hug feeling, so it may feel different than the TOS spasms.

We have been discussing the MS hug on a thread that I started called "Small Whine . . " Check it out as there are lots of us who have discussed our experience with the hug and others with things like the hug but they are not sure.

What is the feeling, Julie?

If it was due to MS, this thread would give you more info:

If it is not due to MS, it may be from Peripheral Neuropathy (which is experienced by those of us with Fb, MS, and/or many other conditons):

Thanks.
It feels like an odd pressure on my chest, like someone is pushing on it and it's coming in waves, it doesn't go away completely but eases up and than gets worst agin. I don't feel it in my back but have felt a tightens, like someone hugging me hard on my sides and chest a few times lasting 5-15 seconds each time.
I'm also have bad fatigue today. Well the headache nausea thing is still around.http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...y/worried3.gif

Julie,

I have ms hug symtoms. But also, my pcp and neuro doesn't want to just blame everything on my ms, which I feel is wise. So they just did an x-ray and ultra-sound. I have 3 gallstones and am going Friday for consultation with a surgeon. They still feel I have the ms hug. But the gallbladder can cause different pain and discomfort, so some folks who have had it have told me. I don't know if this helps. I could be wrong... but just another idea. Good luck!

Thanks, I haven't been coughing any but am feeling a little better right now. No bad tightness in some time just like a dull ache.

Hello Julie glad your fence will be fixed,

Before I was able to even put a name on it, I must admit how you describe it, its a lot like how I would try to desribe it, It wasnt till I saw Barbs comments on draw a line from front to back and the pain shot straight through and down and etc.....

when I saw that I realized that was how i described it to my neuro, along with the tightness and feel like someone is sitting on my chest and every breath can be a labored issue, I hope some answer comes your way, I can only imagine the annoyance of having these SX, yet not being dx'ed
hang in there hope you also get to feeling better

peace

I think my real point here was that I'm learning to not ignore sx when they change or get worse, because I now know first hand that what seems like one issue can actually be MS plus another medical condition that needs attention. Sorry I forgot to say that. :o
