can anyone identify symptoms?

Does anyone have an idea as to what is going on? From what I researched...it looks like this goes with a neuropathy issue. I am really certain that I have nerve damage and now suffering! UGH!

Last night I was sitting on the couch and we were all just having a family discussion about things and I started getting VERY uncomfortable and having pain all over. I started feeling sick and then my hands started burning and sweating. Then my feet! I stood up and looked at my hands and they were FIRE ENGINE RED and just dripping in sweat! They burned so bad and my thumbs were just killing me! Everyone looked at my hands and went WOW! They couldn't believe the way they looked. I wanted to cry because they were burning and I couldn't touch anything. I then looked at my feet and the bottoms were just as red and sweating also. I then started sweating everywhere...it was so gross. This happened the other night when I was getting my MRI done. Oh, and I tried to walk the other day and the same thing happened. What is this? I got up and walked around and after while my hands turned PALE white and then got real cold! Then I was freezing and under a blanket. I just don't get it!

Can anyone shed some light on this one?

May I ask why you were not taken immediately to the emergency room?

I'm just curious. They might have run some tests, and you might have had at least SOME answers to what happened to you.

Hope the burning has stopped.

food or drug reaction?

Terrible sweating like that can come after eating, if you are diabetic.
Consumption of less than fresh fish/seafood can also do it...this is a histamine
reaction. Tomato sauces, monosodium glutamate --food additive-- may do it.

Drugs--- opiates are big offenders. Certain other drugs like Strattera, or Effexor or Cymbalta will do it. Did you have GI disturbance? There is a tumor called carcinoid, which puts out large amounts of serotonin and that effect is similar to what you describe, but there is usually a GI cramping/nausea with it.

Some tumors of the lung secrete biogenic amines like that. Doctors know how to test for them. These types of symptoms precede discovery of the tumor.
So I'd report this to your doctor.

Momz,

Was the MRI you had done for the cervical spine? Just curious. And pain in the thumbs is indicative for C5/C6 issues. Severe pain in my thumbs was the first sign of my own C5/C6 herniation. And it ALMOST sounds like RSD. I am no expert when it comes to RSD. But I have a friend who has it. I haven't met her in person yet; we just talk over the phone. But she says her RSD is in her arm, will turn red and then sweat will just pour off of both hands. Just a thought because when you said all of that it made me think of her. I hope you can get some help and find out what is causing this.

spells, vs constant.

RSD symptoms, once you have it is fairly constant. It does not go away, and come back daily. It may flare and get worse...or improve a bit, but does not go away.

Sudden reactions like you describe here imply that something ingested triggered you. Also internal carcinoids, dump biogenic amines in a cyclical fashion. Also with certain forms of movement that compress the tumors it can happen.
Excess serotonin can also cause wheezing..this becomes more significant as time passes and higher amounts of serotonin are released with time. It is less obvious or not apparent early on.

Here is a list of drugs that can cause sweating.

The NSAID family and high dose aspirin, and Strattera (which does not appear on this list) are the most frequent complaints I see.
Opiates also commonly cause sweating in some people.

Wow! Thanks for that. Some of the drugs on that list I knew could cause sweating. I had no idea Tramadol was on that list. And many of the drugs listed I had *no* idea they could cause that kind of side effect or reaction. Holy cow!!
