Waiting....

I'm just sitting here, waiting for my aunt (dad's younger sister) to call and tell us that my uncle is gone.

He's been sick with some sort of cancer since last summer. My dad's other sister told us that he was in hospice care this week. My aunt called this afternoon to tell us that my uncle is no longer talking, and that they've drugged him up with morphine so that he's not in any pain.

My aunt told my dad that she treating things as if my uncle had already died, even tho he's still alive (as far as I know this minute)

I feel a little bad about this. I saw my uncle back at thanksgiving, when he was still doing pretty good. I havent seen him since then. My family hasnt really talked to them since his daughter in law did something nasty and vindictive to another family member (not sure why she was being vindictive, the person she did the bad thing to had never done anything to her)

I dont like this waiting. It's too stressful.

I know it's easier said than done but try not to get stressed...remember him as he was the last time you saw him and know that he will be at peace.

Well, no more waiting...

My uncle died this morning. I dont have any other information about it other than "he's gone". My dad's youngest sister is apparently the one doing all the notifying for my dad's next-to-youngest sister.

I'm glad that he didnt die on my cousin's birthday. Most of my family members seem to die on the birthdays of other family members. (grandpa died on grandma's birthday, dad's younger brother died on dad's sister's birthday, my grandma died 2 days after aunt's birthday and 2 days before my birthday.)

I dont have any uncles left on that side of my family now. Good thing my mom's brothers and brother-in-law are all fairly healthy...I've still got them.

Thanks.

(I guess my message has to be longer than just the "Thanks", so I'm just typing more so that I can hit Post Reply)
