Hi, I just found this site and find comfort although saddening to know I'm not the only one with these symptoms. It will be 30 years next month since my third critical head injury with all the usual post symptoms. For head aches I have found Propanolol, twice a day, to be a God Send without all the nasty side effects of Elavil.

Lately, I have been having problems with agitation, frustration and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on controlling these types of issues?

Hello awre1313, and welcome to NeuroTalk.

Although I have different problems to your own, I'm so pleased that you found your way here to this forum. There's some wonderful people here and I hope it won't be long until you feel quite at home.

thank you

Thanks for the warm welcome. As you know, it's hard to come forward to discuss these types of issues especially with those that one does not know.

I do thank you for the warm welcome and as you may come to regret since I do have a tendency to ramble on, putting me more at ease as I enter this new experience.

Thank you

God Bless One and All

Sorry for reasons bringing you here.

Glad you found relief for your headaches. I tried many things inc. Propanolol --helped but not enough.
most of my headache/pain from injury to cervical spine; recently began Botox injections ....

the "emotional" issues you addressed... are ongoing challenge for many, inc. my self. I feel constant irritation, frequent agitition. frustration esp. when try to do things I feel i "should' be able but can't or don't -- often related to memory issues.
at times can "cope" better but became extremely emotionally volitile. Hypersensitivity--to noise, light, most stimulation.....
new manifestations/ exacerbation of other problems... all affecting ....
{I too have had multiple TBI. other injuries. med problems persisting for many years ...
continue trying to piece together, find answers, help...solution...move beyond survival MO

-- depending on how badly, adversely the 'emotional' issues are affecting your Life--
some 'self help" or other therapys offer benefits --regular focused Breathing & other exercises; Meditations can be done most anytime/place & can be easily learned.

RX meds often prescribed, and may be worth discussing these and other options w/ med pro-- PCP may help or may refer you to specialist.
Some like neuropsych's may offer non-drug therapy. NEuro Feedback, etc.

I've had problems w/ many meds I've tried--allergic & adverse reactions.
each of us reacts differently--weigh pro/cons of available treatmt . Prefer non-drug but am trying some new meds (for other med conditions) that may be exacerbating or causing some of the emotional issues.... one of the 'cons' of taking meds --but will try longer to see if Benefits outweigh.....

Endocrine, hormononal problems may be culprit;
also Vitamin & other deficiencies-- that can be easily checked & treated.

B12 deficiency was confirmed.
I take MethylB12--better absorbed (for more on this & other related issues, check Forum for Vitamin, Supplements, herbs @NT.
I added other vitamins, supplements--Magnesium, 5HTP , omega oils & more...

I also use Aromatherapy; oils like lavendar can be calming... many other oils , ways to use....

Talking, writing, 'venting' in a safe way & place like this Forum, to others who can understand, relate....SUPPORT and may offer more, better suggestions....

wish ALL the Best...

Thanks for the response and guidance. I am still overwhelmed at the response of so many others which are going through the same symptoms as I am. I guess after so many years of going it alone there is comfort in finding others that know and understand our situation.

Thanks again to all for such a kind response

God Bless One and All
