Pec Minor Surgery Monday
I've been in Denver since Wednesday and am having my pec minor surgery Monday, April 21. I am very excited, but starting to get a little nervous. I so hope that I am doing the right thing!
Dr. Sanders says that recovery is simple. (I'm sure it is, for HIM!) He says I'll need no physical therapy, that that I'll be able to use my arm fully at waist level or below after a week or two. (No weight restrictions at that level.) Sounds really optimistic to me, but since I'm not a believer, that's ok! I've given myself six weeks more or less to be back to "normal" whatever that is! My sister is here in Denver with me and we are having "adventures" every day. |
Best of luck with your surgery :grouphug:
And enjoy the adventures with your sister:D Let us know how you are doing when you can |
you'll be just fine!
Good luck piano player! I had my pec minor's released in Denver 3 years ago. The only chronic issue I have from the procedure is a burning under/near my arm pit/incision. Still have to ice it nearly daily. Hope yours is not so. Otherwise, the procedure was a breeze!

It's Monday !
I hope the surgery is going smoothly and your recovery will be complication free  Best of luck with this ! |
Surgery went great and I'm feeling really good! The pain is very manageable and I can move my arm alot - in every direction. Dr. Sanders said he wanted me to be able to get it over my head by the second day after surgery - not a problem now!
There is aching, but mostly on the inside of my arm, not where the incision is. I've kept ice on it and am taking a Vicodin every four hours. So far, so good! I was scared to death last night, thinking of all the possible complications, but I think I'm going to be pleased with the results. Pianoplayer |

Update
It's been three weeks since surgery. My incision looks really good, but the last couple of days I've had a "pulling" feeling from my armpit down my side a little ways.
I'm sure I've been overdoing things all along, but it's really hard to limit myself. I'm trying to get my house ready to sell and moving as much as I can to my fiance's house. (Getting married August 1!) I don't lift anything above my chest, as per instructions, but I'm still having alot of pain in my shoulder, the same place as before surgery. The numbness in my hand and fingers has slowly dissipated, which is a really good thing! I've played a couple of times, the last was at a rehearsal last night. Felt just like I did pre-surgery after a rehearsal. So, I'm not sure if the surgery was a success or not! |
