Have a nice day is a commonly spoken valediction, typically spoken by service employees or clerks to customers at the end of a transaction, particularly in North America. This repetitious and dutifully-polite usage has resulted in the phrase developing a cultural connotation as a stereotypical display of impersonality, disinterest, or passive-aggressive behavior.

It is also the title of several creative works::cool::cool::p

i think we should work on getting the negative side of the phrase gone. :D

sometimes people ask me "how im doing" and i feel like kicking in their face

Unfortunately the answer to that is probably not, but what ever you reply...... just smile anyway.

After you kick in their face, do you say "I'm good now, thanks." :p

I don't think people care one bit, unless someone calls you on the phone and says "hey, I haven't heard from you in a while, how are you doing?"

That, to me, is a REAL concern question.

But the other people who say "how are you", well, they don't want to hear about woes and wails, etc. They are just being polite.

But the person who says "have a nice day", I LIKE THAT, because I get to say it back in whatever their native language is, and you should see the look on their faces.

It gets their attention. Around where i live, there are MANY languages spoke, so I have had to learn "have a nice day", in quite a few.
