RLS and jerks?

Rather than highjack Jarrett622's message on RLS I have another question.

I do not believe that I've ever had RLS (altho' I think my husband has it) but lately I've been having a particular sensation in my legs and it usually occurs when I'm still - lying or sitting. I first get an intense feeling (almost like a deep, deep itch) in one or other leg which lasts for about 2-3 seconds then the leg jerks involuntarily. Usually only one jerk but maybe two. I am getting to know the feeling now and kind of wait for the jerk.

Any connection to RLS or PN (idiopathic)? Just another of many confusing symptoms which have developed over the past ten months.

I've known a few jerks who make me want to kick them ;)
but fasciculations (sp?) (twitching & jerking) are common
to many of us, as a s/e of PN.
It is not enough symptoms to have full-blownRLS tho.
I get the leg twitches when I'm in a half sleep just before nodding off,
or when I'm relaxed and feet are elevated in my recliner, watching TV.
I also get some twitching & intense burning of the soles (pads) of my feet,
when I get into bed some nites.
Then I rub in a menthol creme(Icy Hot) and put a fan on low speed,
off the foot of my bed, to allow me to get to sleep.

Hi Megan, i use to get involuntarily leg jerks but not the deep burning feeling beforehand, i am sure it was the high dose of Tramadol in my case as when i reduced the med, the jerks also eased up and then when i stopped the Tramadol all together no more leg jerks at all.
take care
Brian :)
