Attachments - questions??

You'll soon be getting sick of me and my questions.... :)

I have another question please. When I add an attachment to a post, I get a window opening that shows the attachment downloading, how big it is, and then it tells me when the picture has attached.

Seeing how I've not deleted them all after downloading each time, I now have 693.9 KB of attachment space already used, in the window where it says "manage attachments".

I've looked at everything I could think of to try and increase the available attachment space, but I couldn't even find a delete option.

Can anyone help please?

It's been awhile since I did it so I'll do a test on this post.

so you get the picture uploaded.. and that is OK?
and then do you hit the close window?? {a button at the bottom of that screen}
that's the next step - unless I am confused about your question..

are you uploading multiple attachments ?

the size for posting is set by the forum software it's not something that can be changed unless you change the size before uploading.

I'm not having any problems uploading at all thank you. My question is to do with the attachments I've already made to posts (in the past).

I uploaded 2 pictures a little while ago, only to see a big red line across my attachment space in "manage attachments", and it was only then that I realised how much space I have used up.

I deleted the two attachments I'd just posted, no worries. It's the older ones that I hadn't delete in the past that I'm concerned about.

What I'm tring to do is delete some of those old attachments from that space, to give me more room.

I might try and see if I can get a photo of my screen to see if that helps.

I've tried to take a screen shot. It was too big to post at first, so trying again now I've down sized it.

Edit: Although it's not a clear picture now I've been able to check it, I hope you can understand what I'm talking about.

oh - so the red bar show used space - I checked mine & I don't have anything like that showing. I don't think I ever have seen that before.
Probably why I wasn't sure what you were asking about.

I wonder if anyone else gets that?

When Curious gets online she might have some ideas - or you can PM the thread link to her to make sure she sees it.:)

I'll add "questions" to the title and maybe more will pop in with help too.

each member only has so much space to add attachments.

the bar shows how much room you have left.

you can go to Manage Attachments and remove some. removing them does remove them from the posts.

using photobucket instead of attaching directly from your computer will not take up attachment space.

it won't show like that for us jo...cuz we are special. :p mods have different specs we are allowed.

does this help?

Not cutting in but you can go to your User CP and on the bottom left there is an attachment button under Miscellaneous. Click on that and you'll see all your lovely downloads. Delete away.

Thank you so much every body for trying to help me.

I think Sandy's answer may be the one I was looking for. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet, but by using that button, I at least got the opportunity to delete all the attachments that I have so far used.

Thanks Sandy, and thank you every-one else.
