does anyone else have more seizures when falling in love?

I'm new here & I have complex partial seizures probably caused by basilar migraine. Every time I meet someone I like, the seizures increase & this confuses everything! I've read a bit about TLE personalities & seizure personalities being more prone to religious experience (Dostoevsky seeing God etc.) & I know my seizures bring me a lot of emotional intensity but now I'm wondering if there's a link to falling in love...after all, we do call it "falling" in love...does anyone else have similar experiences? xx

Welcome to the forum! I've had complex partial and absence (petit mal) sz. for 36 yrs. along with 2 brain surgeries to help reduce my sz. I have read and heard a lot of nonsense over the yrs. as to what can cause sz. but take my word falling in love will not cause more sz. The 2 main things that can cause sz. is stress and lack of sleep. Also some people need to stay away from nutra sweet because it causes more electrical activity in the brain which can lead to sz. for some people. Before I began having sz. I used to have wicked migraine headaches and I found out that is one thing that led to my sz. I have right TLE and it's the right temporal lobe where a person shows their emotions. Sometimes a person with complex partial sz. can also be moody because activity is coming from both sides of the brain. I've seen many different neuros. over the yrs. but I found the best place to get any help and get answers to all questions is to go to an Epilepsy Center which is usually at a university hospital. There you can talk with an Epileptologist, a Dr. who specializes in epilepsy only and is way ahead of any neuro I every saw. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

I haven't hard of it either cardigan, but just because I haven't hard of it, does not mean it doesn't exist.

As I read Porkette's response I thought of something. Are you going out to dinner & in doing so using nutrasweet? Perhaps that can help.

Hello all, & thanks so much for your responses, & the welcomes.

I don't eat processed foods or use Nutrasweet, so that can't be a factor for me.

And my seizures aren't caused by epilepsy but by a migraine condition so, unfortunately, epileptologists will have nothing to do with me, even after having the seizures for 14 years.

I wonder if it's not that the falling in love causes the seizures but that my aura is an intensity of emotion which then gets transferred onto the person I happen to be with, & if I'm having a lot of seizures & a lot of auras it could be feeding one into the other.

Do any of you feel intensity of emotion before or after a seizure?

Stress can be positive or negative
 

I find that my seizures are extreemly responsive to my stress level. Too much excitement can set me off. From what I understand stress is a fairly common trigger for many people. I have learned to relax regularly.
