Prozac and MS

This may have been posted before, but I heard it on the radio news this morning.

It was talking about prozac preventing MS lesions.

I thought it was interesting. I haven't heard anything else about it, except that one radio news clip.

I did a search and found this article. Pretty interesting......

I heard the same thing about Paxil. If this is true, it could account for the fact that I have not progressed in disability in the last 5 years. I was on Paxil for about 6 yrs and now Prozac for two.....and LDN for the last 5 yrs. Maybe the LDN and SSRI are working in combination???

Just to be on the safe side, I'm not going to stop either Med..:D WooHoo!!

Thanks Day and Kitty..

Makes me want to trade my Zoloft for Prozac........

I've never taken any antidepressant but Zoloft. I wonder what reaction, if any, I would have to the change? Is Prozac similar to Zoloft?

Just like all the other drugs out there and how they affect our own individual physiology, Prozac is a no-go for the Moose. I felt OK, but started seeing stuff "in my head". Suicidal type stuff.

My first nuero had me on it for about 6 months. Maybe less.

But if it can help others out there, I say give it a shot.

And thanks for the thread, DAY1.

I thought it was great when I heard it. If it turns out to be true, then it may help slow down progression. Anything that prevented progression would be awesome.

It looks like I'm trading Celexa for prozac. Anything is worth a try IMO.

My husband heard this on Paul Harvey yesterday then I got an email with the article from Medpage.

I have been on ADs off and on most of my adult life. I am now on Cymbalta but had been on Prozac many years ago.

I'm wondering too if this could possibly be all ADs. We'll see. I too wonder if this is to do with the stress factor in the course of our MS and how it can seem to make us worse or actually cause an exacerbation.

The stats on this tho didn't seem to be all that promising. Here is the article I read..http://www.medpagetoday.com/Neurolog...erosis/tb/9297

That's 'cause, Teenagers aren't supposed to take Prozac, Hunk..:D

Hmmm, interesting. I wonder if it's because AD's slow down the system, calms it, so to speak? Jim is on Zoloft and does well. Hmmm.
