OUCH...My body is forgetting how function.

On April 10th I had major oral surgery. Where they fillet the roof of your mouth, then sew it on your gums. 22 shots. Yep, my fun meter was pegged that day.

Things got better (like they could have gotten worse :) then I got a toothache in 3 different teeth. I saw my regular dentist today and told him about the teeth hurting. He found one (#31) that needs a root canal and the quickest I can get in there is Friday at noon. 2 Days. The ONLY time they had open on Thursday is the same exact time as my hospital tests for my heart. The other two teeth quit hurting (I think) after he did something in my mouth.

Never mind all that, I am taking oxycodone for the tooth aches, but I must have taken too many. I could not swallow Chicken Noodle soup tonight. Monday, my wife and a friend tried to wake me up for about a half hour. I could hear them talking to me, but I did not know how to wake up. Too weird. Never thought I would be begging for a Root Canal.

1. I meant to say "My body is forgetting how to function."

2. I had NOT had any pain meds the day I couldn't wake up.
In fact I had driven us 65 miles. I was fine, but when I fell
asleep I couldn't figure out how to wake up.
3. All I can guess is the shallow breathing may have lowered the
oxygen levels too low for me to function normally.

4. With the toothaches, I finally took the oxycodone. Some time
after that I could not swallow. Or maybe it is correct to say I
forgot how to swallow the Chicken Soup.

5. I have had my root canal and they found I had a jaw infection
as well. What a month.

Any suggestions??

That's weird you forgot how to do actions that usually don't require any thought.

Glad you got your root canal over with.

And you didn't forget how to type, so that's good.

Suggestions? Ummmm, remember to sleep with your CPAP! Don't want you forgetting how to breathe!!! :p

The only other time I had this problem was when I first took 90mg of morphine. I could not swallow laying down. I had to sit up.

That was over 2 years ago. Oh well.....

My next project is figuring how to take a ventilator with me. The only one I have is not designed for "road travel". Never a dull moment.
