Question on PN and Cardiac Issues

Hi - As a long time member - I think I've come across maybe one or two members who have heart affects from neruopathy.... (not blocked arteries etc but rythm problems, cardio-myopathy, very low blood pressure, etc.)

Since we have many new members - wondered if any of are are dealing with these possible autonomic complications or if you do have these symtoms and they are attributing them to something else besides your PN?

I've been a cardiac patient since my early 30's - at least 8 years before definate PN onset - (with rythm problems, etc...) ... and for the past 5ish years cardio-myopathy and questionable rythm, diastoloic dysfuction, etc. which I've had at least 3 different docs attribute to possible amyloidosis... I'm currently seeing a new cardio for a completely fresh look - and hes doing complete testing (21 day event monitor - echo and whatever he feels necessary from there, and probably another fad pad aspiration for amyloid - I've had two, one positive and one negative).....

Appreciate hearing from any of you that may have cardiac complications... my vitamin levels are fine (just had retested) - I havent changed any meds in years (take a beta blocker just to stop serious tachy runs which in the past on occasion have been very dangerous) - and the beta blocker helps control those somewhat (cant tolerate calcium channel blockers, already have low blood pressue and these seem to affect me more adversely then the bb) - anyway - if you are affected - would apprecite knowing how diagnosis made - and how are you being treated:confused:

Thanks

Also Here in My Case

I have PN as well as atrial fibrillation problems, trying to control the rhythm with flecainide and the rate with the beta blocker TOPROL. I have often thought about a connection between these two afflictions but haven't seen or read much. As arrhythmia is a defect in the electrical system of the heart, it must involve nerve patterns just like neuropathy.

I've had low BP all my life. And my heart has always been subject from time to time to 'skipping' beats. Don't know how or if this connects to the PN now. The egg or the chicken... Never been diagnosed with any cardiac issues to date. Though if I don't get this cholesterol thing under control that could change.

Fish oil has long been shown to reduce A-fib incidence (and so does eating
fatty fish).
