Anyone with disc issues?
My latest MRI showed some brain lesions went away (that's a first for me), some are in new spots, and the one on my spine is larger.
The report also talks about several disks that are bulging or herniated, C4-C7, T8-9, and I think T12-L1. I see that this was also on my last spinal MRI reports from November. Anyone else have this show up on their MRIs? What does it mean? Can this be causing my issues with my back pain and spasms, and problems with my legs and my right arm? How does one get a bulging disc (or several)? Thanks for any info you can provide. Weeble37 |
My MRI last spring showed 3 bulging discs. My doctor mentioned at the time that aging, injuries, and being overweight may all be factors causing this problem.

A lot of reasons for disc problems, repetitive stress injuries(heavy lifting, poor lifting technique) horses and donkeys make better pack animals.
Like Barb mentioned aging, overweight, poor posture. Keeping the mid section tight relieves strain on the back. |
....and also just a lot of physical work. I was in my 20's and of normal weight when I started having back pain...then by early 30's a ruptured disc and surgery....just did a lot of heavy work on the farm we had at the time and in the garden...just another possibility. :) Hope there is something they can do for you. That sounds like a lot of disc trouble! Good luck!

I have a slipped disc at L5-L6 (or is it L4-L5?)
I'm pretty sure I got that in a car accident in 1999, and a fall about a month or two later...and maybe the stupid chiropractor quack that I went to after the car accident. |
hi weeb,
i've got 2 discs. one at C6-7 and L something. i had the lumbar disc injected a few x's because i was having terrible back pain. could hardly stand at the sink to do dishes and bending was awful. it took 3 sets but really worked well. it was done by a pain specialist under floroscopy. my C spine disc is pressing on my cord. i've seen a neurosurgeon and had it evaluated every yr. he doesn't think my sx's are severe enuf to warrant surgery. from a C spine disc my dr would look for bad neck pain and numbness and pain running down my arms. i used to worry about but don't anymore. i have it assessed and go by what my dr thinks. basically they attribute the sx's to MS. |
I've been told (by two doctors) that bulged (slipped) discs do not cause pain and that most people have them and don't know it. I have 3 but also have other issues going on. The one that has been identified as my pain center is from osteoarthritis. Hope this helps.
