Asking for help...

I'm taking Mestinon and I'm wondering if there are others out there that have found ways of calming their stomachs while on the med. Are there foods that would help? Herbs?
Today is a rough one. One of those days when I want to go back to bed... for a long time. I consequently beat myself up for even having the thought. Lots of "supposed to's" .
Also, for those of you on Mestinon... does it make you more tearful?

Thank you, Josie
:(

Don't ever beat yourself up for wanting to sleep! My goodness girl just do what your body tells you!! I asked my H about Mestinon stomach. He is also on cyclosporine which also affects his stomach - naseau allot. The drug that works best for him is Zofran.

Welchol helps me.
Eating crackers can help. but for me, it did not help..I was always on the toilet with terrible diarrhea, and cramps.
I don't know of any herbal remedies, nor have I ever heard of any, sorry.
Love Lizzie

Hi Josie.

I've been on mestinon for nearly 6 years, and although it does cause me diarrhoea, the vomiting was worse for me, especially when I was on the time-span. The only thing that has worked for me are probanthine tablets, I carry them where ever I go.
I also make sure I take them with food, otherwise they play havoc with me. I still have what I consider a "build up" of medications, and have to stay close to the toilet for the day, but these only happen occaisionally now.
Dont feel to badly about going back to bed, early on I use to get home from work, have a glass of milk for dinner go to bed, and if I wasn't working the next day would sleep til 10am!! No where near as bad now!!
I dont think mestinon makes me more tearful, I'm sure its the frustration of having MG, and having to cope with the loss of my "normal" life before!! and not being able to do everyday things.

hope this helps a little
take care
