Tired and Had to Stop

This fatigue has final gotten to me - I had to go to the car auction today a hour & 1/2 drive from the house. On the way down I had someone riding with me but I bought a car so he drove that back. I got 3/4 way back and I was falling asleep - I put the window down and did my best to stay awake to the next rest area about 20 miles. I pulled in and slept for about 45 minutes and didn't even realize it. I was so tired - I don't usually get tired like that but I guess it has been a long week. It was scary when I felt myself nodding off....

Yeah, I remember doing that years ago before I had a clue what might be causing it. Weird not to be able to drive 20 miles or so w/o needing a nap!

What was really awful was about 3 years ago when I had driven my parents to a family reunion about 2.5 hours away. Dad kept offering to drive, (he had no idea how sleepy I REALLY was!), but he was in his 90's and I didn't think I could relax with him behind the wheel, lol! It's such an awful feeling when you are overcome with fatigue, isn't it? Glad you were able to take a nap!

Is the new car for your personal use, or what? Anything to get excited about? :p

Char,

Please be careful. I know this type of fatigue can hit hard and fast not giving us any time to prepare. But I worry about you sleeping in a rest area. I'm glad you did stop because falling asleep at the wheel is not a good idea :eek: but I just hear so many stories of women being abducted at rest stops.....I just don't want anything to happen to you. Sorry....I'm just a worrier. :o

I hope you're feeling better now. So, you gotta new car?! :)

Thanks for worrying but I was ok, first remember I am in Maine. It is a pretty quiet rest area. I locked the doors and parked right in front of the door. It is pretty open.

It did come on really quick, I was so surprised - one minute I was fine the next I was falling asleep.

No, no new car for me - I am an auction buyer for a used car dealership. I buy cars and spend someone elses money! :D It was a 2005 Special Edition PT Cruiser with 32K on it. I stole it... Love those deals :D It is a sharp looking car - two tone black on top / silver on the bottom. Special paint job!

What a great job! I used to do estate auctions for fill-ins at my boutique and spending money on stuff "for the business" was my favorite part.

YB - I am glad that you are OK and made it back safely. I hate that kind of fatigue. I can be going a mile a minute . . .oh wait I don't walk that well . . .an inch a minute and all of a sudden have to stop and nap. This happens everyday. I have so much planned and never know if it is going to be a bad fatigue day or not. I start going and then BAM naptime, out of the blue.

Be careful!

That's a smart lil Yabbit for taking a break when you felt the fatigue hit. I have had that happen before; it's so overwhelming.

Rest up Char, you've been running around so much lately; your'e body needs a break. I'm also feeling wickedly tired today; Sis left and I'm tuckered out. If I lay my head down, I'll be out.

take care Char.... :hug::hug::hug::hug:

I'm glad you were able to safely pull over and get some sleep. When these fatigue spells hit they are pretty scary.

Just tonight I had one of those fatigue spells hit me. I was at home and doing nothing and knew if I didn't lie down I was going to fall. I ended up sleeping on the couch from 7 - 7:30 p.m. My DD came over to make sure I was okay (DH wasn't home). She is so sweet. Then I got up and finished what I needed to do! Now I'm ready for bed!!

I hate that kind of fatigue. I've been doing that a lot lately. Watch out little Yabbit. Glad you pulled over and took a little nap. :hug:
