GFCF list?

Im new to all this. My 4 yo is autistic and has really bad constipation. Ive seen that some children are put on this diet for that reason. I cant find a list of foods anywhere unless ofcourse I want to pay for it. Can anyone tell me what to look for?

So far Ive gotten soy milk and yougurt.

Thanks!!!!

Well, you have come to the right place for lots of good information. There is a treasure trove of good stuff right here on this forum. :)

As far as a food list goes, celiac.com, has two lists. One safe, the other avoid. When I started the diet I printed out the avoid list to help with grocery shopping and sorting my pantry. Do not panic when you see the avoid list! True, it is long, but most things I have never come across.

I have been gluten (only) free for over a year now. Improvement came very slowly but wow what a difference now!

I just replied on the autism forum. I hope you meant "soy yogurt" and not regular yogurt. Just a heads-up... some autistic kids have problems with soy, too, so I wouldn't go too heavy on it. There is rice milk and almond milk and even potato-based milk. I hope you are reading the labels. Some of this stuff is surprising because even if it is soy-based, it may still have cow's milk in it.

Oh, and when I mentioned allergy labeling laws over on the other thread, that was for the US. I'm not sure if you're in the US. If not, I can't help you with your laws.

I also agree that soy can be a problem too. It would be helpful to have your child tested for other intolerances too, or to test for celiac before beginning the diet if you have suspicions of celiac.
