Southern Californian's

Not to be an alarmist, but be as prepared as you can in case we have an emergency.

I am not sure if you know Lucy Jones of the US Geological Serivice (she is on TV after all of the big earthquakes in CA). She was on TV yesterday andfor the first time ever, she seemed very worried about the liklihood of a huge earthquake very soon. Based on her information, it will start in the Banning Pass and be so strong that it will move west to the ocean, causing massive damage. If you have an emergency kit then you should be in good shape, but if not, here are some of the items that you can get at Costco which are necessary:

1) Complete Emergency Preparedness Kit Item# 304916
2) Emergency Food Kit Item# 104893
3) Xantrex™ XPower™ Powerpack Solar Item# 288568
4) Bottled Water 1/2-Liter 24ct Item# 117270
5) The Backside™ 3 Person Lightweight Backpacking Tent Item# 185626

Thanks Vic,

I saw a report two days ago on the news and was thinking about a supply kit for emergencies.

Should also think about stuff to keep in the car.

How bout that weather yesterday Vic? We were headed to AZ but the 10 got flooded in parts and we went 3 miles in 1.5 hours and turned back. Crazy.

It looks like the weather is in "repeat mode" today. Those tornados were amazing, and may form again today,..., but who knows...

Did you see the tornado picture taken from the golf course? That was General Old Golf Course (hole #4 I think) as the tornado passed over the 215 and blasted the train. Yikes!

It has been raining like crazy in the foothills again, and the weather is moving our way from the San Bernardino Mountains. The sky over there is Black as coal now.

Yeesh...

Yeah the pics of the tornadoes were crazy!!!!

I am a mile from the ocean and its raining here and looks ominous.

Stay safe!

Maybe we should head to Kona :D

I always follow weather in California since I lived in San Diego for 8 years (and boy, do I miss it!). I still go back a couple of times a year to LA, Santa Barbara, and SD.

Anyhow, I had just sent this article to a friend in Santa Barbara.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24762804/

Somehow the idea of LA shaking like a bowl of jelly in an enormous earthquake (which they say we are due for) is quite scary.

Vic, I saw footage of that tornado in Riverside County. Yikes!

I dream about retiring in So. Calif. Maybe Kona is the better choice. :)

Wanna come to Boise?

You know, some kind of emergency preparedness kit would be a good idea for anybody ANYWHERE!

I bet Boise is a great place to retire...but my love for the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains will keep me here in CA. Maybe I will retire on a parcel near Bridgeport or along the Walker River....but then agian there is always Tom's Place (Mayberry RFD in CA). Anywhere that the fishing is good, the crowds are small and the air is clean is fine by me!

Isn't Boise Smurf Blue???:D
