Take the med early in the morning...NO CAFFEINE for you ....:D And get some Simply Sleep to help you sleep that night. It's benadryl. That way you won't have to take the Ambien (it's way too expensive!!). |
Good luck

Good luck with that!! I take more naps than my 4 yr old. I keep telling Neuro's I need something for fatigue and then they start me on something else like for pain and don't want to do more than one med in case something goes wrong. So.. for now.. tons of naps for me! I am hoping the best for you and that it works :) Monique |
i wonder if there's a lower dose available?
otherwise i vote for the pill cutter too. |
There are 100 mg tablets. Ask your doctor for a prescription for those and you'll only have to break them in half.

I have Trazodone to help me get a better night's sleep. It works better for me than Benadryl. It's an old, safe, and cheap drug, and works well as a sleep aid at low doses. I take 50mg at night, and it works wonders for me. My neuro RX's it. |
The 100 mg tabs cost almost twice as much as the 200 mg tabs. I'd go with the 200 mg tabs and cut them! The pill cutter costs about $5.
I haven't tried the Trazadone. I can't take any rx sleeping pills b/c I take Soma. The only thing I can take is benadryl and it works just fine for me. I don't need it very often. Between the Klonopin and the Soma I am usually out within 25-30 minutes anyway...little Miss Med Sensitive here!! |
Weird the 100 mg ones are more expensive. My doctor just started me on them. I was really weirded out on them at first..200 mg's first go around. I found out if you take them with Strattera, Effexor, and Xanax... you may get side effects.
I had this feeling like my chest was gonna explode and I would pass out, so my doctor cut my doses of strattera back, and now all is well. Would you believe I still fall asleep on provigil sometimes?? good luck with it this time. :) |
I understand your nervousness. I have three boxes of free samples that they gave me of provigil at the ms clinic I went to for a consultation and I have been afraid to try it. They have just been sitting in my closet for over a month. My neuro told me he does not prescribe stimulants. I am not sure if he includes provigil in this category or not.

Provigil is probably the most expensive drug I take. My insurance pays for it and my copay is $10. I looked on the receipt of the last one I got filled and the cost to insurance was $549.00!! Are you kidding me?? Good thing I don't take them every day......now that I am not working unless I have a reason to be wide awake I just don't take them twice a day every day. I haven't had any side effects from them, though. I'm just able to concentrate and don't get sleepy like I do when I don't take them. I wonder if they will ever be on the $4 prescription list??
Wiz, I take Trazodone at bedtime, too. 50 mg. It's one thing I cannot do without if I want to get a good nights sleep. |
