Hello Everyone.
I am a new member to this forum.
Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of the flow of information on PD.
I am 56 years old and I have been 3 years into my PD condition (it is not a disease), and everyday is a new challenge... I am not yet on any medications, trying to hold off as long as I can...
I spent 4 years, taking a friend to the University of Colorado PD center, to no avail... He was already past middle PD... During that time I had little idea that I would have PD myself... It was quite a shock to have symptoms coming 3 years ago... Working with my friend those years I was made quite aware how bad life can get if you have PD... It was quite a shock when I could no longer ignore myself...

Today my right hand tremor is hard to hide and hider to ignore...
By profession, I teach at a local university.
PD realy starts shaking when a PD person is in a situation to make one nervous, happy, or angry...

I have very little PD knowledge and this is probably worse than the condition...
One of my aims at joining this forum is to learn from you all and maybe add my own experiences as well to be of help, if possible...

My father died in 2000 from Alt's.
My Mother has beginning PD with her right foot tremoring and speech breakdowns. She is 86.

Sincerely,
Robert Alagna.

Hello Robert, and welcome to NeuroTalk.

I'm around your age and there's quite a few others as well, so hopefully you'll feel at home here.

I did some clinical tutoring at Uni level so I have some idea what it's like to be no longer able to function at that same level. I don't have PD, I have MS but the end result is similar when we are forced to give up or adapt, the things we like best.

Incase you haven't found it yet, here's the direct link to our Parkinson's Forum, where you're about to meet some really lovely people. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum34.html

Hi, Robert! :Wave-Hello: Welcome to NeuroTalk!

Phenomenal, isn't it, when it almost seems like the condition came from association? Ugh. I don't envy you one bit. Have a look around and feel free to join in anywhere.

Thank you for teaching. :)
