best scan for brain injury?
well i went to get a ct scan and a mri scan and the doctor said that they didnt find nothing abnormal which was good news but still i really want to find whats wrong with me. i researched scans called pet and spect and eeg i asked the neurologist about those scan but he said mri is the best scan and that those scan are for tumors. has anyone tried any of these scans? did they find anything?
i think the injury and my brain is to small to be seen in the mri but it really bothers me because i want to know what exactly is wrong |
Will a look inside your brain really help? Even if they were able to identify some kind of tiny abnormality, I don't think there's any way your symptoms could be attributed to it with any certainty. Welcome to the world of mental disorder, there are no hard and fast answers, but there is help and you will get better.

Hurricane12,
Check this site out: http://www.brainmattersinc.com SPECT scanning isn't cheap, but it can reveal areas of the brain that are under/over active. Then you can learn how to work around those areas. Money can't buy health, but it can buy professional knowledge about your personal health. If I had the cash, I'd have gone years ago. This link was posted over on the head-injury forum at the original braintalk forum. |
EEG or QEEG

apparently, autopsies on people with PCS show widespread damage of the brain that was too fine for an mri to pick up.

spect scan
I had a spect scan. Didn't show anything except I have good medical insurance.
