My name is Rick I am a Rt, 63 years old, two children 27 and 34 ,both move out, well moving some 200 lb oxygen units in a nursing home I developed back pain, my reg Dr, said i had a bursitas and gave me a cortisone shot, a week later I was back and he gave me a patch conductive test and told me I had a pinched nerve, I went to a Othopedic ,they did a MRI on my back and told me it was normal, I went to a hip Othopedic ,because thats where my pain was and he gave me a shot for tendenitas, well to make a long story short the group that did my MRI had to call the Back Specilist and told him I had a broad based dics buldge L4-5 impingement on a L5 nerve and a mild herniation on the L5-S1-so I have had three opinions, one being epidoral shot to calm the nerves down another a Facet injection and the last Dr told me a Nerve block ,meanwhile I have trouble sitting for any lenth of time and have mild leg weakness, pain is also mild-it seems like it improving ,going on four months , my question is which do I go with ,the nerve block or the others? I am really confused

I too have back problems...in the lumbar area. A month ago I had an epidural injection and then two weeks later I had another one. Both in different area's of concern. I have had quite a bit of pain relief. Yes, I still have to take meds to treat my pain...I'm just not using as much. I will be looking at having my 5th surgery....eek.

Well, enough about me...I hope you enjoy this board as much as I do!!

Hello Rick and Welcome to NeuroTalk. I'm glad you found us, and after reading your intro, you may have helped me w/o even trying.

I have severe bone on bone L5-S1, w/alot of back pain. This past month, I have had a newly developed hip pain. It has literally put me to tears. The Rheumy said it could be bursitis or tendonitis and gave me a cortisone shot almost 3 wks ago, which did nothing for the pain.

I really haven't given a thought (until now) that the back/hip pain "could" be related. I do see a Spine Spec for the back probs, but at this point, there is nothing they can do. (Osteoporosis and a whole other story):(

That's one of the extremely special things about this board. Each member is here for one reason or another and they are all so caring and helpful. You will fit in here just fine. take care.
