Wish List

Ok.. I know we started a thread with our collections but what if we do have a christmas exchange or want to get someone something for their birthday or another occasion. I have no idea what you guys like.. so can we make a list of maybe three things each person likes.. just to have?

My 3 favorites:

1. Gel pens (I LOVE pens!!)
2. Candles (Also love candles but not as much as pens!)
3. Organizers (I really couldn't think of a third thing.. *sigh* so I just picked that one)

Maybe some people will have the same thing on their wish list that they do on their collectables or maybe they are just collected-out and don't want anymore of those things. Anyways.. I just thought for the future it might be nice to know what everyone's interests are :)

What a neat thread. I did the post card exchange and absolutely LOVED it !!! I don't get to post on here very often - I tend to be sporatic due to time limitations or how I feel but I want to get in on a Christmas exchange this year and like getting ideas of things to send people !! You are just too smart !!!

OK - for me...

1) Fairies - love them - love to hang them from ceiling or trees (in a bedroom)
2) Butterflies also love to hang them (not real butterflies that are dead)
3) Magazines or small books on scrap booking [or] gardening

Note - I have NEVER done a scrap book - but I want to. LOL Had a hard time coming up with the 3rd thing. :D

I'm anxious to see what others come up with.

mom23angels 06-02-2008 08:26 PM

I did see a thing on tv where you get a butterfly house and you can grow butterflies yourself..and then release them. I thought it was cute for two minutes, *lol* until I realized I would be the one to take care of these things. Much like the cat my son picked out and I take care of and now he's talking about a dog.. no way.

I was in Walmart a couple days ago and I was looking at the scrapbooks but I have been so sleepy and unmotivated to even do that. I should work on my sons' baby books and update those and add new pictures. All the things I want to do but haven't motivated myself to start!

It would be interesting to know what other people like..this board is so diverse so I can only imagine the different interests everyone on here has.. it will be fun to find out! :)

Just kidding folks. :grouphug: BUT I like that postcard exchange thing. Can we still mail postcards?? I never have so I don't know but I know they used to do that. I think I may even have some here in a box of old stationary bits and pieces I picked up at an estate sale a few years ago. I will send one to whoever wants to exchange. Or do they have to be from the city where you originate from?? Or from anyplace??

OMG!!!! http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l2...06/funny-1.gif  I just noticed this!! http://www.spearboard.com/rofl.gif That IS Hysterical s. http://www.spearboard.com/rofl.gif I think I may have something similar saved, let me look. ;):D

OH, ok. Antique photos of ships, air planes. I actually have a pic of a slave ship that sank or ran aground off the East Coast of the U.S. It was covered with sand up to the tips of the masts. I actually stood on them so in a sense I was ON a Slave ship. I also have an old photo of one of the Flying Tigers. Interesting story.

WHAT are "gel pens" ??

Stimulus checks?? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ys/tofunny.gif Endorsed of course. We don't want to be doing anything illegal here. :p

Bets 06-03-2008 01:30 PM

I think we need to start a Gel Pen recovery group. I'll start:
I'm Betsy and I hoard Gel Pens. I'm so ashamed.

I have two packs of gel pens saved in my desk drawer for over 5 years! I finally decided to grow up and use them, after all they can be replaced. Right? One is missing already, :hissyfit: I know my dbf used it and didn't put it back. He will pay, and that is all I have to say about that.

Some how I just killed all my flowers so I figured why not put them down. I use to work at MJDesigns and that is where I fell in love with them. With or without nut I just love it (and it is not because I am pregnant I just love it more)

When you click onit another Blue box will appear in upper left corner. Delete what is in there already, http://, then paste the url in there.

Or just type in the image brackets youself.

Then put the url of the picture between the brackets. http://www.imtorrents.com/images/smi...y%20Tongue.gif

My top 3 impractical things:

1. Candy Apple Red Corvette (convertible). Yummy!
2. A welder and plasma cutter of my own. I have to use DBF's now.
3. A closet full of pretty shoes that I can actually wear and not kill myself doing it. lol.

Practical things:

2. AAA and AA batteries. You can never have enough with kids around.
3. A daily inspirational story, concept, motivator to keep my aspirations going.

Those are great ideas.. I should probably go out and buy an inspirational book to get me through the hard times. I don't know if you ever heard of Randy Pausch. He is a professor at Carnegie Mellon that is dying of pancreatic cancer.

This is his speech on youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji5_MqicxSo

He gave a lecture called "the last lecture" about what you would say if it was your last lecture and you were dying. It's a hypothetical thing but in his case it's true. I want to go out and buy his book..

http://www.amazon.com/Last-Lecture-R.../dp/1401323251

In Sept. they gave him 2-3 months or so and he's been going on this long. The last thing I read was the cancer has spread as of May of this year to his lungs, lymph nodes and other areas which is very sad. But he is very inspirational so I still want to buy and read his book :)

I have never heard of him before. What an amazing man he is. Thanks.

Several years ago I read a book by Dr. Wayne Dyer. It was pretty good. Then I saw him on a PBS special and was really impressed. I bought one of his books and have never opened it. LOL. So much for being inspired to be inspired. lol.

A few months ago I read a book written by Piero Ferrucci called "The Power of Kindness." It was awesome! It really hit home for me as I was able to see things that I am doing well and no so well. I am going to read it again as a reminder as it was so uplifting.
