Nerve blocks for burning...

I've been reading the postings here since discovering the site, and have found the information invaluable. Much thanks from me.

Since last December I have been suffering from what was diagnosed as site-specific neuropathy following surgery (I had my gall bladder removed). But two months ago I ‘blew up' so to speak. My pain, centered around abdominal incisions, slowly migrated to my right hand, which became numb; down to my thighs; creeping down my leg; and then inflaming the total of my arms and legs and upper back. My face joined the party a week later. Each advance was exacerbated seemingly by exercising (treadmill). As the rest of my body succumbed, my abdominal pain abated, or took a secondary role. I've been wiped out since.

But the burning is the only RSD symptom I have. With my nerologist I've been thoroughly tested - every blood test; spine and brain MRI's; EMG/Nerve Conduction test, etc. All fine. For PM I'm seeing Dr. Josua Prager - an RSD specialist in LA - and with him I'm now scheduled to have both upper and lower blocks Thursday. I am the wimpiest guy in the world with needles (though, obviously, no one 'likes' them). Besides worrying about the actual procedure, I would love to hear from anyone their successes/failures with blocks, or more specifically what kind of benefits, if any, could I expect with the symptoms I have?

Thank you for any replies...

All my benefits from these have been pretty temporary.

The first one gave me a huge amount of hope though because all the symptoms went away for a while. Just knowing I'm still OK under all these problems makes it easier to bear.
