Ritalin for RSD ?

I noticed something about the use of Ritalin for RSD when doing a recent search for info about surgery and RSD

Has anyone heard anything about this ?

Googling it, I'm only finding a few references about a few cases treated by Dr G Mellick and Dr L Mellick

Sorry...

No I have never heard of using riitlan for RSD. Where did you see the informaton again? I can not think of why it would have any benifit. Except to help keep you awake and help you concentrate through the haze of meds most of us are on. Sorry I couldnt be more help. CZ

I was prescribed Provigil to stay awake. It is a drug they give to people with Narcolepsy (neurological condition most characterized by Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS). A narcoleptic will most likely experience disturbed nocturnal sleep, which is often confused with insomnia, and disorder of REM or rapid eye movement sleep. It is one of the dyssomnias. A narcoleptic may also fall asleep at any random time.) so they can stay awake during the day. It works for me as long as I don't take it every day. It causes me to not be able to go to sleep. I take it when I really need to stay awake ie: when we go to the PM doctors or I have my grandkids stay with us a few days or say we go somewhere such as today at my oldest grandson's birthday party. Other than that it doesn't help with any other symptom I have due to RSD in both feet & ankles.

It wasn't about staying awake or focused (although, to be honest, even that would be a help right now ;) ).
It was about Ritalin, not any other stimulants, being used as a cure for RSD
