mid-westerners

Please check in so we know everyone is okay after yesterdays storms!

Well, Iowa is seeing terrible flooding in so many areas of the state. They've closed my road again today. Hopefully it will be reopened in time for me to go home from work. We've had storms, tornadoes and flooding for weeks on end.

Thanks Woodhaven

Doody - I'm glad to hear your head is still above water, even if your streets aren't. After watching the news, I was wondering if I should send you some floaties.

We had a big tornado pass through just south of us in Monee. It destroyed some homes and an apartment complex, but no one was injured. Our sirens went off here too. Geneva was a wreck. Ray always talks of building a storm shelter, but I remind him we'd never use it. Whenever those sirens go off, he either goes out to fire up the grill or mow the lawn.

I had to laugh at the TV warning with the computerized voice tracking the storm. Monee is pronounced "mow knee." The warning stated "A large tornado has been spotted near money." :D I think we should name this tornado "Rob."

Hiya, Woody! We've been blown around and drenched beyond belief, but thankfully, nothing devastating here in West MI. It has been a persistent little bugger and I feel another one coming along any time now. I'll keep hoping and praying that all stay safe!

I neglected to mention that we had two drownings today in flash flood waters down near Saugatuck. The worst part is that it was totally preventable. Please, no one ever drive through a water-covered road!

We had quite the storm here yesterday. Lots of trees down and power lines.

We for once didn't lose power but a whole mess of people did.

Still holding on here... seems we have been dodging tornadoes or floods for the past several weeks....

Major floods about 80 miles south of me...
more rain supposed to be here again tonight...

It's bound to flood here if we get much more rain... the ground is soggy already...

Everyone stay safe... I think we are in for one bumpy summer....

The campground in Toad Hollow is flooded AGAIN!! *drat*

I am supposed to take my DS to his yrly transplant appt Wed, called the Univ and they told me the Iowa River is out of her banks and my route is flooded. I'm calling back tomorrow to see if I can get an alternative route.

Lake Delton in Wisc Dells has homes sliding right into the River. So awful.

My DS's city is flooding also, but he's safe.

Hope everyone is safe here!
