rectocele?

I am always constipated. Last menstrual cycle I have found it hard to use tampons do to the constipation. I just finished steroids which always makes me very constipated. And i found myself in a perdicament while in the bathroom. It seems that the vaginal/rectal wall is protruding out of my vagina?
After searching the web I found rectocele. This seems to be It.
What do I do? I have to go but cant. Im afraid to "strain" and it now seems that Im getting a vaginal infection. HELP!!!! Any suggestions til I get to the doc.

Im also sick with an upper respiratory infection that seems to be heading into my chest.

Im chugging cranberry juice, gatorade water etc. Im wearing loose fitting boxers and taking stool softeners.

Thanks in advance.

Motors Mommy I understand your anguish!

If you have something protruding from your vagina then it's most likely a vaginal prolapse. Sometimes the uterus drops and you could be feeling your cervix. It sounds yuk, but a uterine prolapse can be fixed temporarily by using pessaries, where-as permanent fixture would require a surgical repair.

Another possibility is that your bladder isn't sitting nicely where it should be, and if that's the answer then you'd be having problems like stress incontinence by now.

A rectocoele is a bit of bowel that bulges out of your back passage after bowel movements and can usually be pushed back in with your fingers. They occur because of stress to the pelvic floor, or as you mentioned, chronic constipation. Surgical repair is the only way I know of to fix that one.

If constipation seems to be your main problem right now, I suggest you speak to your local pharmacist. Maybe a suppository or one of the mini enemas on the market at the moment, would solve your immediate problems.

I had a hysterectomy in my early 30's and because of the heavy lifting I did as a nurse, I had a rectal and vaginal prolapse, and my bladder was in need of repair. These were all fixed when I had my uterus removed.

I think your best bet would be to see your gynaecologist or who ever does that sort of operation where you live.

This is very common with us ladies Motors Mommy, so good luck with yours, and hugs.

update

Thanks for replying.

I first left a message with my gyn's. Then I called back and spoke with the manager? she put me on hold and asked the doctor right away. I was told that it isnt an emergency, That I can be seen next week but only if I get my cough under control. ( i have this stupid URI w/ a deep cough..which makes me leak urine). I also found out that my doctor is leaving town after work.

I also spoke to a RN at the clinic about my cough and told her I thought I had this. But they never got back to me.

I was able to poop a little without aid. I am currently sitting on a boppy and about to get an ice pack. Swollen irratated and itchy.

This sure makes me think that you have a weak pelvic floor causing your bladder problems, and possibly a bladder prolapse if you can feel a lump.

Often the bladder will slip down out of it's normal place and stress incontinence will occur. You can tell you have stress incontinence if you leak urine when you cough or sneeze.

Pelvic floor exercises like the ones Curious mentioned are a good non-surgical way to get this under control.

I'm glad you have an appointment. Good luck; I hope it works out well for you.

Plus I feel pressure/heaving in that area. Im spent a while in a cold shower!!! Getting the benadryl and an ice pack and hoping to sleep.

Thanks for trying to help
