Red Spots

Broke out in red spots on my skin. I am pretty sure it is purpurea and pitchea (sp?) like another time. Sort of like someone took a red Sharpie marker to me, looks exactly like blood just under the skin surface. No itching or anything - just there. Haven't been around any communicable diseases.

Not worried about it; just wondering how long it will be before they go away. A few of the ones from the last breakout are still there 2 years later, but some went away.

I ask as I have a party to go to and several are on my legs and chest. Call me vain...

Do you mean like broken blood vessels, or a (perhaps slightly) raised rash?

There is no line, right?

Nope, not raised, no lines. Looks exactly like someone dabbed me with the tip of a red Sharpie marker.

I get that sometimes on my forearms. Don't know what it is - doesn't hurt and goes away by itself. I forget to mention it to the doctor because it never happens on a day I have an appt.!

Do they stay for a long time, like sometimes forever?

I have like broken blood vessels/capillaries(?) that can occur when I hit against something (they will usually subside then in days to months), and other ones that have stayed forever. I had some burned off by a plastic surgeon several years ago (which, by the way leaves scars ).

How long do they last - I can't recall. I do know some may last forever like last time - just curious how long the bulk will stay before they fade/go away.

I sometimes find one or two of those on my chin in the mornings. Just on my chin, just in the mornings--don't ask me why!

Sometimes one of them has "broken" and there's a slight crust of dried blood on my chin when I wake up.

Mine fade away in a day or two.

i get this too its like blotches under the skin sometimes almost in a pattern shape, most times total numbness and tingles are associated with me when my skin does this

jane,

my take is that if i were you i'd go see my dr for an exam.
he might do a scraping and look at the skin under a microscope.

you could find out if you're having some kind of allergic reaction to something, or maybe a med.

and, you want to be sure that you don't have something that others could catch, especially children.

since it's the wk/e you could try to find a free standing clinic and run in there.

hope it's nothing. you might also try to reach your pcp over the phone.

There is a way to test for petechiae - take a clear glass and press it against your skin. If the spot does not blanch but the skin does then it is petechiae. Usually rashes are not serious but with petechiae it can mean your blood is out of whack.

It sometimes precedes illnesses such as a lupus flare.
