Do You Curse??

Not judging....just wondering if your everyday language includes some 4-letter words. :o :p :D

worked as a prison nurse for more than 20 years, and an inner city parmedic for just as many. I was the Capitol city police medic squad, so....I was quite the potty mouth for years. I can cuss in about 5 languages. It was a survival technique because most of the time when you say "sweetie, come sit here and talk to me." most inmates or drug dealers dont hear you. "Get you **** over here NOW dumb **** and sit down and STFU" is much more effective.

Funny when I stopped working I went back to my normal speech patterns. When I was off duty I wasnt a potty mouth either. it was like a job tool. Just as handy as my flash light was.

My sister on the other hand, WOW! I cant believe she kisses her kids with that mouth. WOO! she can blister the paint off the walls. I spoke to my ex's wife a few months ago and it was Fing this and Fing that. it just sounded so trashy and out of place. Of course I hate my ex, so he deserves this gutter mouthed trout. HA!

I try very hard not to but sometimes I slip and use an inappropriate word -- but it's usually not that bad of a word. If I let one slip in front of my daughter, she slaps my hand!  Smart kid!

If my daughter is not around and I'm not in public, I tend to slip a bit more. :Blush2:

It's funny, it often has a lot to do with who I've been hanging with or talking to lately. I had a friend for a short time and heard myself swearing a lot more, which is really not my style. Easily influenced, I suppose, but as soon as that ended, the cussing calmed back down. Most of the time, it doesn't happen with me, but when it does happen, it's usually when I'm kidding and do it to be a jerk for the laugh.

Funniest thing with me is, I hear myself say "carp!" when something makes me mad. I blame all of you for this.:D

Rarely, but it happens. No four letter words here though. When I was a kid, between about 11-13, some of my friends and I went through a phase of telling dirty jokes and cussing like sailors when we were alone. :yikes:(I was a tomboy.) But I outgrew it.

My Mom loathed swearing and she'd speak up about it so I think I have some of her feelings about it. Once when she was visiting, before she got Alzheimer's, DH rented a movie for us to watch, "Goodfellas".   She was not amused and didn't feel comfortable watching it so we went elsewhere in the house while DH watched it. :o

Occasionally, I let it slip.....on purpose :p
When I am mad or angry.

I chose both.

Usually I don't swear....much, but it does happen.

I'm not really much of a "cusser" as my Dad used to say. I agree w/AMN in that, I have one friend who tends to "let it fly" and when I'm around her, I have to be careful not to follow suit.

My fave word is AMN's famous word~~ CARP! I say it all the time and the first time I used it, DH looked at me so funny. He's used to it now.

(I have to admit tho, that if I do swear, I'm usually really, really MAD/furious).

What the **** kind of *** **** poll is this? Of all the *** **** **** things. LOL.

I generally don't curse. When I get upset a few milder ones slip out.

FinLady 06-18-2008 09:07 AM

I'll confess. I use curse words a lot at home. LOL, hubby's family is like that so kind of gotten used to it.

In regular conversation with other people, I curb it. My family's biggest curse word was "sugar" so definitely learned not to do so around others. :D

I cuss like a sailor. It must be the years spent hanging with all those soldiers. Haha. I do try to curb the cussing but it really depends who I am with or where I am. I am conscious of when I cuss and that's good. There was a time I didn't pay attention to it.

Now, I do have some board buds I talk to and when we get on the phone it all hangs out. You know who you are! Lmao (BTW, is Lmao a cuss word if we are not saying it out loud?) :p

Jim and I are trying to curb it more recently. But I want to know one thing. Who justifies what is a swear word? Who sat down and said these are the BAD words? Who's to say banana isn't a cuss word somewhere? LOL :D
