Six months later, and now the pain?

Wow, I thought i was getting off pretty easy with the second head injury back in January. The worst part was the 7 staples in the head, but it didn't seem to add to any of the TBI symptoms from the first head injury.

Until now...

About three weeks (maybe more?) ago, my head started becoming tender where I'd hit it six months ago. Shortly after that, I started getting headaches right in the spot where I hit it- almost like a knife stabbing me in the head. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason to when the headaches would happen and they'd only last for 1/2 hour or less then mysteriously go away (thank goodness!)

It's getting increasingly worse, and now I notice that it happens any time I bend my head over or after a lot of physical activity.

I went to my doctor yesterday for an unrelated thing and thought I'd mention it. She said that it could be scar tissue growing around the nerves (or was it the other way around?). I have a follow- up with my neurologist already scheduled for the 7th of July, so she said to ask her about it.

It's not at the point where it's causing life changes. I hope that it doesn't get much worse than this because it is quite painful. Otherwise, I'm doing well- still battling the myoclonus, occasional fuzzy head and dizziness, but it hasn't affected my ability to work. I'm thankful for that.

Anybody else have this happen months after they had their injury?

Pain after 6 months is normal!!

Hi Risible Girl,

How are ya honey?? Miss talking to ya!! Hey, for what it's worth ... I'll try & throw in my 2 cents. I think you remember my story & know I live with brutal Chronic Pain from breaking my neck in 2 places. I can tell you, WITHOUT A DOUBT, that as the 1st year passes, the pain got worse.

For instance, when I came home from the hospital, which I was in for 3 months (32 days in a Coma), all that I needed was Advil and Tylenol. As time passed, the pain became unbearable. That was about 4 1/2 months after I came home! At that time, I was going to the Hospital's Pain Clinic. They started me of 25mcg of Fentanyl and that's it. That worked then, but as I crossed into 6, 7, 8 months, that didn't do anything!! I remember throwing up from the pain even AFTER the Fentanyl. Obviously, the Hospital's pain clinic knew of these symptoms very well, and took good care of me.

Now, it's been 1 year and 8 months and the pain is under control but with a lot stronger medication. I am on Oxycodone 15mg x 3 per day, and 100mcg of Fentnayl (Four times stronger than my original dose). Basically, that keeps the pain at bay.

Pain is a vicious & brutal thing. Please make sure you get medical attention for this. I promise you, it's not something that's unusual AT ALL!! It's not you and it's not your imagination. It really does get worse right at about your time.

Keep me posted. Much love & blessings to you, sweetie!! :sunchair:

Joe
