Not an official weekly check-in thread, but how is everone doing?
I know this isn't an official check-in thread, but rather than let this tradition die off, I thought it would be great if we could fill each other in on how we're all doing with our trials, tribulations, and overall daily life.
So having said this I'll start. Last Thursday was a turning point for me. I had my scheduled neurologist appointment at the Lahey. This has been the best I've felt in years with my current medication schedule working the way it is. My doctor was pleased and I don't see her for another six months! Yay so we get to meet on Boxing Day, December 26 pending snostorms of course. During my appointment, we discussed the current path I'm on and she decided that since things are working, we'll keep them where they are. I did mention to her my funky dreams and collateral damage like a split lip a week or so ago. She said that this is possibly REM sleep disorder and some Klonopin could help, but we decided to hold off on it for awhile. We also talk about my increased tremor. It's not bad enough that I can't control it, but it becomes predominant when I am tired, hungry, and stressed. I still also get those darn foot cramps even though the Sinemet works in all other ways. Overall this has been a pretty stressful week. I'm back to taking classes at night. Kind of mandatory now otherwise I'll lose my student loans and end up paying everything back now, which I don't want to do because this would increase my monthly expenses by nearly $250 per month. Add to the school stuff, my normal work week, poor sleep again, and preparation for my upcoming vacation which I am really looking forward to. So starting Friday, I am on vacation again. I'll be off chasing storms in the far west this time starting from Denver. I really am looking forward to the vacation, but sadly once I go this time I'll have no more time left for the year. Perhaps this is a good thing because I'll have a chance to squirrel away some money for next year. ;) Anyway how's everyone else doing? John |

Thank you! - we should continue this tradition - it is good for the forum to say -'Ello - every now and then, I usually read it but I hardly ever participate, so I will do so today - as I hunt and peck on the keyboard - we/ I am in the midwestern state of Missouri - are we having thundershowers ,earlier it was pretty - in Missouri one of our many ole sayings fits this day - wait twenty minutes before you tell someone else the weather, it has not made up its mind - and it is so much more peaceful in my new/old house, this lil summer storm is fine...some what relaxing ? ;) and it gives me time to relax - if it is a cooler summer, it wouldnt not be that bad for most of us... I have to say the heat of summer, has been harder on me - than the cool of winter - but I'm more of a Spring/ Autumn person now, because at age 150 it's the Autumn of my life - :grouphug: take care! |
Thanks for posting the thread John
I had a med increase recently, from 400 mg of Sinemet CR to 600 mg daily, and doubled my Mirapex from .25 to .5 x 2 daily..I have definately progressed, and I am afraid that my fishing days are close to being over..atleast at the former pace..I have a very hard time going two consecutive days, where as I could do 4 last summer..I get fatigued much easier these days, and where I used to wake up like a charged battery in the morning, I wake up like a battery that needs to be charged..I just do the best I can with what Ive got My cat, the diabetic one with one eye, had a seizure last week..I thought I was going to lose her..She was walking aimlessly around the house, and the other cat was howling and hissing at her, like there was a strange cat in the house, which is what got my attention..She had a temp of 105, so the Vet kept her overnight, and they were able to straighten her out..He blood sugar level was ok, but now I have to give her some phenabarbatol everyday..She is very inactive, and I dont think she is going to live very long..Shes only 6 yrs old, and I feel so bad for her..They become part of the family Then my clothes dryer bit the dust, and bought a new one..Speaking of dust, my stimulous check is dust in the wind right about now  I guess it was a good thing that I got one..Why is it when you get ahead a little bit, some calamity rears its ugly head with impecable timing? :D..I just got the damned check last week! Maybe I should change my signature to.. There are those who see things as they are and ask why?..Karma dreams up things that never were and asks why not? :D |
dear steve -
you are in my prayers, and you little kitty too...
have hope - dear steve, HOPE is the thing with feathers That perches in the soul, And sings the tune without the words, And never stops at all, by Emily Dickinson |
Hi Steve
Just reading the posting as I cant sleep its 03.20 here in Yorkshire England, and its just me and the dog still awake. Have had pd for about 9 years or so all told and with the help of a small amount of meds,I seem to be still in control, feeling good this week even bursting out in song at work. So sorry to hear that you pd is starting to cause you problems, but you sound like a man who is strong willed especially as you have had so much go wrong just lately. Here's hoping you new dose of meds gives you a helping hand to carry on with the fishing. (hope your cat makes a good recovery too) All the best Picksey |

Thanks Picksey, and welcome!! |
Hey Steve, don't you feel as though if you stopped writing checks the world economy would crash? Last week I had to have an appliance repairman fix the icemaker $165.00, he determined that my range was shot, bought a new on for $325.00 and my new Rottie needed $325.00 eye surgery. Besides writing all the checks, a friend asked me to ride her 8 year old mare who was having some training issues. First time in over 5 years that I'vef been tossed. To add to the bruise on my right thigh, I have a very distinct hoof print on my left hip where she got in a kick after I hit the ground. I'm not walking too well and today I have pledges committed to me to walk my rottie in a local pet walk, so I have to go. Thank goodness I can take my time, and even though Otto weights !31 lbs, he doesn't pull me.
