New and scared

Hello everyone. I am a 39 year old male in decent physical health who had his first (and hopefully last seizure) Monday after coming back from the gym. I have been diagnosed with a lesion on my right temporal lobe. I have had CT Scan, Blood work x2, urinalysis, EEG and MRI - Head. My neurologist has referred me to a neurosurgeon. My appointment is for Monday afternoon.

History:
Motorcycle accident 6 years ago. Left MCL Tear, rt Patella tendon rupture, fracture of the #2 and #3 metacarples on my left hand. There was some damage to the full face helmet I was wearing but the CT Scan came back ok.

The neurosurgeon wants a full Body CT Scan before he sees me Monday.

The doctors want me to start taking Keppra 500mg immediately. I am hesitant.

Hi, Hemmerhead! :Wave-Hello: Welcome to NeuroTalk!

That sounds pretty complicated. :( I sure hope they can figure this out for you. We have many forums here, including ones for seizures, spinal injury, post concussion syndrome, and more.

You might try using the search engine located in the toolbar near the top of every page. By poking in certain symptoms, you can find discussions that include those topics.

Feel free to join in anywhere and be sure to let us know what you learn. :)

Hello Hemmerhead and welcome to NeuroTalk.

Sorry to hear about the rough time you've been through, and can well understand your fear of the unknown. If you're not sure about taking Keppra then research it properly and make a list of questions to take with you to your doctor. Ask him/her to clarify each of your concerns so that you can make an informed decision.

I wish you well with your scan and your appointment that follows.
