Car Thief

I was never so embarassed as I was today.

Had a dr. appt. I went and after the appt. came out to go to
my car.
Put the key in the door to unlock, key would not turn. I couldn't
figure out what was wrong.
Thought OK here goes something else I have to get fix. Went to other
side of car to try passengers side. Key won't turn. I am really confused.

Saw a women standing with her arms crossed and looking at me. I am
thinking she is probably saying "What is that women doing"
Trying to figure out "Now what do I do". Looked into car and saw all
this change on the console. Think I didn't have any change spread around
like that.
Turn around and wondering. All of a sudden I see another Small Black
Car behind me and take a good hard look and realize I was trying to get
into the wrong car.
Both cars looked so much a like and parked next to each other.
Got into my car and felt sick to my stomach of what a complete
fool I made of myself. Thank God this car did not have an alarm systerm go
off. That would be great to try and explain my cog. mind and my attention
span being full of holes.

Came straight home. The stress of what I was doing and if the police
had come just shook me up so, I had to take my med. and went to sleep
for a couple of hrs.

Jappy

I think this is a common thing. I have a white Accord, and so do many other people where I live! If I do not check the license plate, I may go towards a car, but then realize it does not have my little pin stripe.

Don't feel so foolish. It has happened to me way before I was ever dx with MS!!!

Hope you feel better!

I did something similar a couple of years ago when I was with my dfather.
He looked at me and said"Are you okay to drive" I whopped him good.:D

Its really scary when things like this happen. You wonder, Does this
happen to everyone else? I dont know.......But it does happen to us
who stay at the stumble inn.:D

Hope you are feeling all better soon.:):hug:

I'd have probably laughed my head off at myself, but I do understand your imbarrassment..:o Those kind of happenings are the things that make you want to stay a Hermit..:o

Jappy, Honey, try not to dwell on the what ifs...it will drive you nuts. It was an honest mistake, that could have and has happened to anyone..:p If you didn't have MS, you would be laughing you head off..

I can remember doing foggy stuff like that, even in my younger, foggy years. It's not always an MS thing. Having a foggy moment or day, is a normal thing and can have many causes, such as lack of sleep.

Don't be hard on yourself about this or I'll have to have AMN come over there and smack you..:D

Did that once. Seemed like everybody north of Massachusetts had a white Subaru. I was fiddling around with the key remote thing, walked right up to the car, realized somebody was coming up to it from the other side just as I noticed the stuff inside was different.

I looked around frantically and spotted my car a row over. I pointed at my car and said (lamely) "You wanna trade? Yours is cleaner." Fortunately he thought it was funny.

Don't freak - everyone's done it!

Back when I had different rental cars every week, I'd walk out to the parking lot and completely forget what the car I'd been driving looked like or what it was that week. Luckily it always says it on the keychain!

My dad did something similar.

My parents were eating a restaurant and my dad went out to the car to wait for my mom while she was at the cash register paying the bill.

He got in the car, put his hat on, and then tried to put the key in the ignition. Key wouldnt fit. So, he was looking at his key when he realized that his hat felt really tight.

Took the hat off. It wasnt his hat!

Looked around the car. It wasnt his car! (his car was a light blue 84 Toyota Corolla. The car he was in was a Chevy car that looked similar to the 84 Corolla)

He very quickly put the hat back on the seat and got out of the car very quickly. Looked around to make sure no one had seen him, and then got into his car, which was parked right next to the one he'd mistakenly gotten into.

I laugh at my dad everytime he tells that story.

AWWW Jappy~ I hope your'e still not feeling bad about this. I got into what I thought was DH's truck and was actually sitting in the front seat. I looked around and thought, why the heck is there a baby seat in the back. (crew cab) ALso, the truck was new, so I wasn't as familiar w/it, but I got the color right. DUH!

Man, I moved fast to get outta there and quickly looked around to see if anyone saw me. Then I spied DH just splitting a gut watching me. He saw me get into the wrong truck and didn't stop me. Ya wanna see a grown man get socked? Come over; just thinking about it makes me wanna smack him again.

So, you see, my Jappy~ I did something far worse.
