Luke's in trouble again
I've had several close calls, but he's always come through like a trooper. I'm not sure he's going to make it through this one. He's now having neurological stuff and a torn ligament going on. I could fix the ligament, but the neuro stuff is turning out to be equally disabling. Guess he wanted to be just like his Momma (I have MS and a torn ankle ligament.). Please keep him in your thoughts as I struggle to make the right decision regarding my best boy.

You got it Greta. I am sorry.

From one poochie lover to another, Gret~ this makes me sad. Lukie has been having a rough go of it. I hope he can gather strength and get through this too. Hugs to Lukie and You.

I'm sorry Greta about your fur baby. I hope he will be alright.

Terrible...
This hurts my heart. Animals suffer in silence when they have pain but there are ways to know when they are hurting. I hope you are able to make the right decisions for your furbaby. I try not to be selfish when it comes to mine. (I don't mean to imply you are selfish.) But sometimes I have to be reminded that what I want isn't necessarily what's best for the animal. My vet is really good at this.
I'm thinking about you both. Billye |
Luke had his visit this morning. I love my new vet. We've only been going to him for 4 months but he's so much better than my previous one. He spent 45 minutes with him and talking to me. It turns out that Luke's really not in any pain. He had to work pretty hard to elicit a pain response - he's panting and whining because he's anxious because he knows something isn't working right back there. Occasionally there's pain, but that's where the tramadol comes in. Once I can get him washed out of his NSAID, he's starting on a course of high dose steroids for a week possibly followed by some low dose steroids. Maybe it will improve some of the weakness caused by the neurological stuff going on. We'll reevalute in a couple of weeks.

Whoohoo! The new vet sounds great!

Aw, poor Luke! I hope he improves greatly and rapidly!
