Staying Home - well kinda

DBF and I were suppose to head to NH this morning for a birthday party for his newphews son's first birthday. Well, after the week I have had and the heat and humidity I decided last night that I need to stay home and rest and not go.

I feel very selfish for not going but I know it was the best choice to make. The ride was going to be 5 hours each way in the back seat of a Ford F-350. Sleeping tonight in a tent on the hard damp ground in my sleeping bag and probably not getting any rest at all.

DBF left about an hour ago to meet his sister and brother-in-law to ride down with him.

I am feeling selfish cause next weekend is the 4th of July and we have plans to go up North camping for three days and I want to be rested and feeling great for the trip. This will be my first camping trip of the year and I don't want to be feeling like I am now.

I mean "kinda" staying home cause I need to run to the grocery store and a few other stops this morning since I thought I was going to be gone for the weekend! But, I am going to do that this morning before everyone else gets moving so I can get back and settle in!

You aren't being selfish when you take care of yourself. When you have MS you have to make choices. You can't do everything. You just can't. Being selective about how you spend the energy that you have is just plain sensible. You sound like a smart cookie to me.

Well, Yabbit, if we use your measuring system then your choices were two: Selfish or Stupid. You just think about that in the bigger picture, missy!

Choices are always difficult, especially when you want to participate and have chosen not too. Don't beat yourself up about it. I'm sure you'll get the details when bf returns. It does get a bit easier, sometimes.

Take care of you this weekend. Hopefully you'll be having fun next weekend. Rest up.

's

Sweetie,

Ya gotta do what ya gotta do to keep YOU healthy. It's hard to pick and choose, but you will learn it as you go along. This is the part where you get selfish for YOU!

If you are still down later in the week, I have an inflatable bed you can borrow! I finally broke down a few years ago and bought one. I just couldn't sleep on the ground anymore! Even an inflatable pad didn't help.

The feeling of sinking down on to that bed is like a dream now! I can still camp, and not have to worry about not being able to get up in the morning!

I actually have one in every size now!:p I bought one for the man and I that is a raised bed, a one layer queen size for the teen and a twin for the little monster!

Ocean State Job Lots has them for 10.00-50.00 depending on size. Some have built in pumps, some have rechargable pumps and some have the manual pump.

You made the right decision Char. Jim has to always decide which activity he can do and which he needs to step back from. The heat is a large factor and it would take him a week or more to recover from the heat. Let yourself off the hook and enjoy the time to yourself. Hugs.

I had a nice long nap this after noon - cog fog is setting in REALLY bad today! Gosh when is this going to stop! Frustration also..... I see the top flying off the toothpaste cap again!

DBF just called and it is cold, damp and raining down there. Glad I am NOT sleeping in a tent tonight.

Many times we need to choose what we want to save up our energy to do. I always feel guilty not going to things but knowing I will have more energy for something else helps with the guilt.

With how you are feeling and after the weather report, now you know you definitely made the right decision!
