Ways to nurture yourself....please contribute

Got this from psych central:

Quote:

Music Therapy--my best days often start with listening to classical piano music. I've read that it can change your body from acid to alkaline...I don't know if that's true but it works miracles for me!

Pet Therapy--animals give you unconditional, pure love.

Hugging! When I come home, no matter my mood, I hug each of my family members. I am much less likely to have an outburst at them when i do this because I'm keenly aware that I care deeply for them and they for me.

Avoiding people who trigger anxiety, anger, or negativity.

Filling my time with creative projects like gardening & music.

sauna?

You know I can't think of anything right now.
Is that awful?

OK here is something:
When I had a freak out a couple weeks ago, the next day I went to the gym and sat in the hot sauna for 15 minutes. It felt like all the bad stuff was leaving my body.

I felt refreshed and relaxed (no anxiety) afterwards so it worked.

Bathing in itself can be pampering and nuturing I think, getting some pretty nail polish and doing your nails can be uplifting. Taking a bath with a room full of scented candles or using essential oils in the bathwater can be nuturing. Those are about all I can think of off the top of my head. I am so aggrivated with life at the moment I can't do any of these things, but what I am going to do is take a shower later. Not very pampering or nuturing but at least it's taking care of myself right? :)

i can't think of anything right now except to say smoking and eating junk food are the opposite of truly nurturing yourself

Awesome! One of my favorite topics. I have a huge array of things...
1. Reading books and magazines
2. Long hot bath
3. Exercise (more like stress relief)
4. Call a friend
5. Buy flowers for myself and put them in a noticeable place
6. Watch a great tv show (I don't watch much tv...so watching a great show is a real treat)
7. Playing with my little doggie
8. Going to bed a little early and putting on a relaxation tape to help me sleep (would highly recommend this one!)
9. Bag of peanut m&m's (would not necessarily recommend this one!)
10. Put on loud rock and roll music and clean up or organize something
11. Buy something from the store I need
12. Nice, long talk with the hubby...hugs too

pedicure

I got a pedicure and my eye brows waxed.

During the pedicure I was tense. I used to get them once in while and then stopped --decided I can do them myself.
Well, I have not been doing a good job and I have a 4th of July party so I called Penneys and went. The woman did my eyebrows too (a first time for me). They were out of control. Now they have a kind of neat put together look.

I like my toes and the softness of my feet.
