New User- Facial/Tongue Tremors; Anxiety

Here are my symptoms- I seem to have no control over the muscles around my lips, and my tongue; it is very difficult to speak whenever these symptoms are present. It does not happen often, but when it does I am paralyzed when I have to speak to someone, either in person or over the phone. This even occurs when I talk with loved ones (parents, wife, children, even close friends) I am very upset about this, I don't know if I have a social phobia or not, but these symptoms led me to this forum in search of help.support/someone to talk to; anything!!! When this happens it lasts for approx. 3 weeks then goes as quick as it comes. I welcome any responses to this post. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Thephoenix,
I can understand the stress this would have on you and in itself cause anxiety.
You have to consider all possibilities but the easiest first.
Are you on or recently started any medication?
How long since this started?
Anxiety can cause twitches and many other problems but less likely in familiar surroundings or with close family.

A problem like this will make you feel anxious and very self conscious possibly making the complaint worse. As the problem is on going you really need to see a doctor asap, they will do a blood workup checking thyroid functions, calcium levels etc.
Luck to you
Nick

Anxiety and Paralysis

Technically, any number of reasons can lead to muscular paralysis and spasm. As bastille stated, you could be suffering from malnutrition. You could also have physical nerve damage either due to minor stroke or necrosis.

Or it may just be as simple as your mind putting too much nervous energy into a perfectly healthy part of your body.

So there may not even be anything wrong with you. It may just be your mind paralyzing you.

In oriental medicine, specifically Daoism, we train the mind and use moxabustion to overcome these issues. BUT we do ofcourse eat well and take herbal elixirs to rapidly nourish.
